Love the Killers, would have loved to seen them at Boston Calling in the past
HOWEVER, given I'm seeing them on Sunday, given they would come back less than 6 months after playing Boston for the first time since 2012, I kinda wish they got someone different.
please please please please tell me if all 7 of these acts are real, tell me number 8 is David Byrne for the love of god
Where does David Bynre fit in this? I see nothing even close to him to compare to last year.
With the way he described his new stage setup, I'm having a hard time imagining what his festival show will look like. It seems like it would require a lot of stage prep.

Yeah, I feel like he'd *have* to close a stage, more likely the Blue stage countering someone else in order for the production to work. Somewhere in the sigur ros slot or how The 1975 countered Mumford.
Top of the lineup isn't bad. Not great, but still worthy of going.
For those of you who are out of the area and considering the fest - I recommend it. Boston's a great city, and it's cheaper than NYC/Govs Ball. Spend a day or two extra to check the place out, if you can.
In his defense, I do remember hearing Johnny Marr saying that he and Morrissey were in contact for a couple weeks about a reunion some years ago. No reason to think it’d happen in the same year as an Oasis reunion and that they would both come to the US their first year back instead of headlining massive Euro stadiums and festivals, but a Smiths reunion is not completely out of the realm of possibilities.
I would rank it as the 2nd most unrealistic reunion after Talking Heads. You're better off hoping for Led Zeppelin.
Also, on a personal level, I can never get past what a piece of shit Morrissey is and I'd be happy if he disappeared. But that's just my bad opinion for the day
Nah, dude. Fuck Morrissey. I like the Smiths and some of his solo stuff, but I don't even think about him anymore. It's hard to care. He's like Woody Allen or something.

That reunion was supposed to happen a decade ago, The Smiths are not getting back together.
Liam has some massive shows in the UK next year along and both of them have a slew of festival and arena dates in Europe. Oasis isn't happening either.

Obviously the Oasis reunion will not be announced until after their respective solo tours.

I would have said maybe if their solo careers were going poorly, but that isn't the case. Maybe 2019, not this year.
Nah, I don't care but their new album is good enough to make my top 100. I haven't got around to finishing it because I've been sick since Fri.
Yeah their new album is definitely not "trash" and that's what I think they should be judged most on considering they've obviously changed completely from their pop-punk days. Also their live show is actually really good. And I'm not carrying a strong bias, I didn't even like Paramore before After Laughter.

I actually saw them open for No Doubt probably over 10 years ago and they were pretty good. But yea they're like a completely different thing now.

I saw them in Atlanta this year at the Fox Theatre. One of the most fun shows I've been to and Hayley Williams does a great job conversing with the crowd and getting everyone into it.
Friends and I are considering going this year. Any recs on where to stay, eat etc. Coming in from the bay area.
While the venue is in Boston (Allston neighborhood), it's much easier to get to from Cambridge. Parking is nearly non-existent within a 5-10 minute walk of the venue, so unless you're staying at a place in the suburbs it's probably not worth renting a car. Also depends on your willingness to take public transit.
If you choose to stay close, then something near Harvard Square or the Red Line in Cambridge is ideal.

I'm still waiting for the November 2017 Liam Gallagher show at the House of Blues to be rescheduled.
