Bands like The National and QotSA would still be headliners here. Even LDR would be pushing it.
I do agree, Arcade Fire are gonna happen. I'm honestly surprised they didn't play this year, but I guess they wanted to kick things off at Primavera.
LDR could definitely go either way.
The National I could see potentially giving themselves the headlining spot, but for reference The xx just played two nights in NYC at the venue where the National are playing one night in the fall, and they're definitely smaller than Bon Iver.
QOTSA I don't have a good sense of how to gauge, but I feel like they'd serve as a good blue stage closer against someone like TOP if we get cursed with that booking
He's playing theaters on his tour this summer/fall. And actually the reason I put him in there is because his Boston and NYC shows are both at venues owned by MSG, who have a controlling interest in Boston Calling

Weird, I thought the whole dad rock thing would treat him better than that

I guess I don't see them getting two headliners at the same level as Arcade Fire or Kendrick. It'd be one of them and two smaller headliners that are still reasonably popular. I wouldn't be surprised to see The Killers play this. I think their last Boston show was in 2012 and an instant sell out at Agganis.

If Panorama can get Kendrick and Arcade Fire, Boston Calling 2.0 definitely can. AF aren't as big as Mumford, and Twenty One Pilots are definitely smaller than Chance. I could see The Killers though. Or Muse.

Have you seen the resale market on that tour? its clear he is either booking theaters for an artistic reason or his team messed up big time

It will be interesting to see how much they increase capacity by. If they really do double it like someone said in the last thread, I'd definitely be onboard with a trio of headliners of that caliber.
They (and a bunch of their side project bands) are playing Crash Line's Wisconsin festival this summer.
Plus, Wilco hasn't played Boston since January 2016, which followed their previous Boston date in the fall of 2011. Given that they're in the middle of one of their "play everywhere in New England except for Boston" years in 2017, they seem like a good candidate for Boston Calling 2018.
I bumped it up from 45 to 48 acts in expectation of them just making Friday the same as Sat/Sun. Hopefully they'll figure out a way to add a fourth stage and get to 20/22 per day like Gov Ball. This might be a little stacked, especially towards the middle/bottom, but let me know your thoughts. Who's on everyone's wishlist?
Kendrick Lamar | Arcade Fire | Twenty One Pilots
Lana Del Ray | Kygo | The National | Travis Scott
Queens of the Stone Age | Ryan Adams | Halsey | Erykah Badu
MGMT | Harry Styles | Grizzly Bear | Anderson .Paak
Dropkick Murphys | Leon Bridges | Big Gigantic | Action Bronson
Royal Blood | Lord Huron | Bleachers | The Lemonheads | PVRIS
Mission of Burma | Maggie Rogers | Perfume Genius | Kamasi Washington
The Internet | Hamilton Leithauser | Shabazz Palaces | Margo Price | Noname Pinegrove | Tall Heights | Bonnie “Prince” Billy | Kamaiyah | Langhorne Slim & the Law Hinds | Big Thief | Papadosio | Vagabon | Lady Lamb | Songhoy Blues Darlingside | Formation | Mothica | William Tyler
This seems like it could be a Boston Calling lineup, but some of the positioning is odd. I'd bump Kygo (who?) and Travis Scott down a couple of lines, push Halsey up to 2nd line (she's headlining TD Garden this fall), maybe move Bleachers up a line or two, definitely move Styles up a line or two. In Boston -- and only in Boston -- Dropkick Murphys are third line in the lineup.
I could definitely live with this lineup. I prefer it to what we just got, which wasn't bad at all.

No. These are two of the biggest (and I mean BIGGEST) artists for college kids right now. I think Kygo has slipped a little but Travis Scott would move a crazy amount of tickets.

This whole lineup is extremely unrealistic. In reality, Halsey would be no lower than 4th next year at Boston Calling, same with The National. Travis would be no lower than 6th, same with Harry.
Would consider going back because I love Boston and they curate great lineups. I could see a top 4 of Foo Fighters - Kendrick Lamar - Arcade Fire - The National. That would be hard to pass up.
For anyone who stayed until the last note Tool played (I left after an hour), was any sort of "See you in 2018" message flashed on the video screens at the very end of the night? Was there any sort of confirmation of next year's event?
I'm not about to attempt a full mock, since my knowledge of up-and-coming pop, EDM, and rap performers is minimal, but I am ready to predict the three 2018 headliners.

The question is, did they take it on the chin this year by not moving enough tickets and if so to they scrap their "curated" line-up featuring Sigur Ros, Bon Iver, Tool (to an extent) and replace it with more complete mainstream stuff. I hope not. I will take the National, Arcade Fire and Ryan Adams in the "curated" slots and you can have Kendrick and 21 in the Chance/Mumford slots. But the middle of that line-up is way to stacked/underbilled
