This will be my third Roo and this year I'm doing it a bit different. I am coming by myself and beings as minimalistic, while still being comfortable, as possible.
My question is: Can anyone lend some advice/knowledge about their "Brokest" Bonnaroo experiences?
I scraped together every last dime to afford the ticket and ride up this year and will literally be walking thru the arch with less than $100 to my name (until right after Roo, thankfully).
To make this even more of a "Survivor" scenario for me... I will be hiking in with everything on my back/wagon. Any tips, ideas, warnings, advice or other threads are much appreciated.
Mostly just looking for advice in terms of food since space is limited and funds are low...
Bring in an insulated water bottle and fill up at the stations. Load up on energy bars at Walmart. Grilled cheese out in the pods. Get food outside of Centeroo, it's cheaper. Sing for your supper. Got any musical ability? The bartering system is alive and well at Bonnaroo. And sorry, but limit the booze. Take the amount of money you have, divide it by 4 and that's your budget each day. Don't go over. You have any left, go nuts.
I've gone to Roo more than once without buying anything on the grounds except ice, which can also be beaten by dry icing it (cheaper in the long run, too.) Trail mix, hot dogs and a grill, condiments, and vodka and a drink to mix it in are the essentials for me when I'm cheaping it.
Don't forget the crackers. Water bottle and free filling stations good advice. Bring suntan lotion and bug spray from home. Mosquitos in this area after the rain and heat are going to be bountiful and hungry. I hope Roo will spray a day before the festival starts. And yes, stay away from anything that has spoilables in it like potato salad, chicken salad, TUNA SALAD. I've been a victim of spolied festival food. No bueno.
