I loved that scheduling of Caribou on Sunday at sunset. Great way to close out the day before heading over to see Billy Joel. I would have liked to have seen Florence & the Machine at the same time, but that set at the uncrowded Other was perfect.
D'angelo is definitely one of my top Roo sets. It was funny watching this dude in his black denim sleeveless vest, dripping sweat, leaning on the rail and trying to recover after the Slayer pit left. A young kid in a D'Angelo shirt who kept his rail spot through all the previous moshing asked him, "Oh, you're sticking around for D'angelo too?" The guy asks him, "Who is that?" After a description he said "Fuck That" and stomped off.
I saw Florence from the pit and ran over to Caribou and caught the last 45ish minutes after she ended. Don’t regret a thing, mainly because I knew I’d be seeing Caribou at Pitchfork again.

Caribou, FlyLo, Jamie xx, Sylvan Esso, Courtney Barnett, MMJ, Slayer, D'Angelo, Kendrick, Tears For Fears, EWF, RTJ, Spoon... and I was devastated when that lineup dropped based on the two years prior.

No RTJ would really hurt. They're one of the few acts that seemed like a real possibility that would also be good for the lineup. I also wanted to see if they'd be billed ahead of Post Malone or not....

Anybody dressing up as RTJ for Halloween?
I'm a bit sad because I'll most likely end up having to see Post Malone at Voodoo

I saw him last year at Meadows. It wasn't the worst thing I have ever seen. But I also had the added bonus of standing pretty close to Ilana from Broad City and Zoe Kravitz and watching them dance their asses off during the whole thing.

is losing out on a group that plays all kinds of festivals every year really that big a hit? for all the complaints about homogenization of festivals asking for RTJ seems like the same thing.

Well I don't expect Bonnaroo to get unique bookings anymore. So if they booked an artist that isn't very unique but still good, I'd be happy. Plus Bonnaroo is still the funnest place to experience live music for me. If I got to see RTJ fuck shit up during a late night set at Bonnaroo, it would be different than experiencing them at some city festival.

Completely agree although I have a feeling RTJ unfortunately wouldn't get LN again if they were booked next year.

Yeah, I think I see them closing Which before the What HL now. Another LN would be dope though
RTJ is just so consistent. At least you know what you're getting even with the overexposure.
That's kinda the thing that is starting to wear on me. Too consistent, too much of the same. I don't know how they'd best switch up the show, but I've seen them live and in streams a couple years apart and it feels like the same. Run the Jewels still rules, but I'm starting to get a been-there-done-that feeling about them. I skipped them at DFN for Aphex (because obviously) and I wonder if I'd skip them at Roo, too. Id definitely skip for a heavy-hitter EDM act like Justice, Prydz or A&B. If you go to a lot of festivals, you've seen them and will have another opportunity to see them before long, like Chance the Rapper.

Late night on The Other Stage would be cool. Especially if they went up against whatever EDM artist is playing the Which Stage at that time. It would also technically be an upgrade from the last time they played since it would be on a bigger stage. But I'd also be cool with them shutting down the Which Stage at night before a headliner.

They've been coming out onstage to "We Are the Champions" for two years now.

I actually skipped them at multiple fests over the last couple of years. I think their biggest problem is just too much material in such a short time. I was all about RTJ2, but have been mostly meh over the new one.
That said, it could be much worse. Their show at Coachella '15 was the stuff of dreams. A tour with Lorde was the best move they could make imo. At least they'll be exposed to a somewhat different crowd and will hopefully chill on the fest scene for a bit.

I realllly hope SZA is playing Roo this year. I waited too long to get my tickets to the CTRL tour and now there’s no more and the resell tickets are too expensive for me I need to stop waiting to buy my tickets, this happens too often lol
I feel like for the upcoming artists Roo is gonna book Sir Sly and K. Flay, they just seem like stuff Roo would go after. Also really hoping for some wild belle on the farm finally.
