Why not mix in some different electronic next year? What are some realistic acts that could compliment this new stage (Or just who do you want to see)?
I will start with Kolsch. He's probably not that expensive, still on the rise, and would totally bring it. Also, get wild and throw Flylo on the Which. Go after The Avalanches. Fuck it, book Gold Panda. Lets make the new cool stage even cooler.

Even Coachella's Sahara lineup this year kicked the crap out of the Other's lineup. The Sahara at least had Eli & Fur, Royksopp, Gucci Mane, Kungs, Mac Miller, EotS, Anna Lunoe and Kaytranada.

Here's the kind of act I'm looking for here. The kids know him and he's literally everywhere else. He's also awesome.
Chembros and Portishead are two of the acts I was hoping for most before the change. This stuff would get me back, without question. I just don't know if Live Nation has it in them.

I expected the worst for this year, and pretty much received it. It's just a shame they went from a decently compelling electronic lineup in 2015 to C and D-list button-pushers in 2017.

The problem with booking an act like Chemical Brothers is it takes a lot of work and a lot of money. Which means there has to be a lot of passion for the music driving all that work and money. I don't think you get that kind of passion at ANY large American multi-genre corporate music festival except for Coachella.
Take Day For Night, a smaller independent festival, who by their own account had to relentlessly push at Aphex Twin to convince him to play (and obviously also cut him a large check, but how much who knows), and in the end the crowd at Odesza was just as big as the crowd at Aphex Twin. We can guess at the motivation of the Day For Night bookers in getting Aphex Twin: media attention, investment in the festival's brand, etc., but it certainly wasn't a low risk way of ensuring ticket sales. I think at least a part of the motivation is simply "wouldn't it be cool if we got Aphex Twin?"
So why should LN/C3, or whoever we think is doing the booking, bust and risk their asses booking Chemical Brothers, a niche electronic act who had a few hits stateside in the late 90s, when you can book Major Lazer instead with far less effort and all but guarantee tickets will be sold based on their name?

This would at least attract a different demo (which they might look into considering they didn't get back to old numbers). I don't think anyone will be mad, maybe disappointed at the most. Really just a handful of these acts would go a long way and it's not completely unrealistic considering some of these acts already play their other festivals.

TLDR: Bonnaroo doesn't care about music.
That's the rub of the American music festival market in general. Sure, every promoter and organizer wants to make money. But, a few of them also want to curate interesting and unique lineups full of cool shit. Bonnaroo used to curate some of the best American festival lineups, and now it's just shit.

They should just put actual DJs in the Christmas Barn instead of nobodies. They don't have to go full on Yuma stage, but just get some guys of the Lane 8 caliber and let them do their thing.
