I'm gonna look into this. The wife is actually off that Monday as well. Could fly in real early Saturday with the time change, have time to drop off the bags, hit up the fest, come back home and then check out Cali all day Sunday.
for $99 this really is a steal. I'm sure tickets for foos in some of their arena shows are gonna be more than that.
QOTSA tickets are even going for more in some cases. I know I'll have plenty of chances to see both in the coming months, but this one is tempting.
I am pretty tempted as well, because it would be really easy for me. Short drive through the desert and no need for a hotel. I just went camping in san bernardino a couple weeks ago and it was beautiful. I think this will probably get pretty chilly at night; it was hitting the high 40's in May at night.
It will be hard to pull off though. If I did this I'd be doing cal jam> desert daze> lost lake in 3 consecutive weekends. I'll end up spending more on babysitters than fest tickets.
Bring back Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush from Cal Jam 2. And maybe Emerson and Lake from beyond the grave to team up with Carl Palmer for a repeat of their 1974 headlining appearance at the original [tm] California Jam.

The fact that we now have a resident grandma in LA has probably made me to bold in considering Cali dates. I'll take FYF and Coachella for now, but this one on the table for sure.
Just booked a La Quinta in San Bernadino w free cancellation. $195 after fees and everything for 2 nights with 2 beds. If I can get a group of 4, I'm probably going to do this. $99 ticket, $50 a person for the hotel, $25 a person for a rent a car, round trip flights are nothing with the SW miles I have built up. Not bad at all. It'd be my first time in Cali too and I would think the weather would be perfect.
In Bloom Festival 3/18-3/19 Houston, Texas Rock Werchter Festival 7/5-7/8 - Werchter, Belgium Mad Cool Festival 7/12-7/14 - Madrid, Spain Austin City Limits 10/5-10/7 - Austin, Texas
I have a tentative trip planned to California for October 7-15. Already have The National at either the Hollywood Bowl or San Diego's Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre circled. This is tempting too, so a hotel room in San Bernadino is now booked for Saturday night.
This will end up being cheaper than ACL for me and I don't see how either Saturday or Sunday of ACL would be as stacked as that for my personal tastes. No brainer if I can find people to go.
Define weaker? Noel's an unreal songwriter but Oasis' sound is because of Liam. Those may be great songs but if Liam's voice wasn't singing the lyrics I wouldn't be as in to them as I am. Even if it's fading now, I'd still prefer seeing Liam live right now over Noel, especially with the setlist Liam's playing. I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death on here somewhere before.

Agree with you on this. Oasis is my all time favorite band and I always considered Noel my favorite Gallagher brother, but after Wall of Glass came out I realized how much I missed that attitude in Liam's voice and how instrumental it was to Oasis' success. Excited that he's been playing Be Here Now cuts, too. Noel despises that album and hasn't let Oasis play those songs since like 2001.

Agreed on all of this. I'm more excited for Liam's future shows than I ever was for Noel's.
