Lorde vs. Grizzly Bear hurts my soul so much, both were must-sees for me.
Also if anyone has any advice for the following conflicts:
Nick Cave vs. Fever Ray Tyler The Creator vs. IDLES vs Panda Bear The Internet vs. Cigarettes After Sex Rex Orange County vs. Lift To Experience The Breeders vs. John Maus The National vs. Superorganism vs. Mogwai
Those are all super tough for me.
John Maus was the worst set I watched at Coachella, but I'm not really familiar with his music FWIW

Cave without doubt. Idles on that stage will be an absolute riot. Tyler is banned from the UK though so will prob take my chance to see him. Lift were apparently excellent at green man so my friends say. National but absolute personal fave. Mogwai always brilliant too. So tough one that.

Rumor is Rodriguez might be at one of the Hidden Stages, which is a pretty good get. Highly recommend the documentary on him ‘Searching for Sandman’. Long-story short, his music got bootlegged in South Africa and unbeknownst to him he became a massive star in the country and sold hundreds of thousands of albums. It took decades before anyone knew who/where he was.
When’s everyone else getting in for this? Hopefully see a couple of you at The Men’s show Monday.
I'm getting in Wednesday around 3PM. One of my friends is picking me up a Spiritualized ticket, gonna try to do Spiritualized > Kedr Leviansky > Umfang b2b Volvox that day.

Just picked up my festival wristband at the Apolo for The Men show tonight. First time in Barcelona and I have to say this festival is worth going to for the city alone.

The demand for Spiritualized tickets was severely underestimated. A queue of several thousand people right around 3 PM when tickets became available. Almost missed one myself because my metro skills are lacking. A lot of people left without a ticket, which is awful because I know this was a highlight for a lot of people.
That being said, seeing Spirtualized with a chorus and orchestra was incredible. Lead singer didn’t say a word once (I suppose lyrics are words), treating it like a symphony experience.
Managed to catch 15 minutes of Wolf Parade, but Belle & Sebastian stole the show. Invited a bunch of the crowd on stage and it was a wild time.
Attempted to get to the late night shows at Apolo, but as previously noted my public transportation skills are lacking and I ended up waking of 7 miles after the metro closed to the Apolo only to be so exhausted I walked another couple back to my room.
In summary, don’t hire me as your tour guide unless you enjoy wandering aimlessly in the city.

Belle and Sebastian are always so severely underrated as a live act. Their Bonnaroo 2015 set is one of my top ever festival moments! Glad to hear they brought it in Barca as well
I'm not sure if Red Bull will be streaming this in 2018, but Pitchfork - on YouTube and their home page - will be from 11am-4pm from today through Saturday 6/2. Some of the acts they are going to play are:
Bad Gyal Chromeo Chvrches DJ Seinfeld Hinds Jay Som John Maus Knox Fortune Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein (S U R V I V E / "Stranger Things") The National’s Scott Devendorf Oneohtrix Point Never Slowdive Superorganism Thundercat Vagabon Waxahatchee
Pitchfork thing is live interviews and live DJ sets, not the actual sets.
Primavera will be showing some sets next day (called ‘Relive’). Today, starting 9 AM PDT, there will be sets from Belle & Sebastian and Wolf Parade (and a couple more).

Yeah that kind of blows a little. Red Bull carried the fuck out of it last year, but they cut back on festivals this year. I think they might have a combination of ACL, Bonnaroo and Lolla.
I'll post more thoughts later, but ending the night with Nick Cave > Vince Staples > Nils Frahm > Four Tet > DJ Koze till the sun came up was insanity.

Addition by subtraction. Skepta is definitely a smaller name, but Migos at Lollapalooza last year was painfullly bad and I'm betting Skepta will bring it

I’m officially 1 for 3 making it until 5 AM at Primavera. Truly an incredible fest. Hot takes on the week:
-I don’t know that there was a single time slot I struggled to find something worth seeing and yet most of the conflicts were pretty minimal -My tally for Monday to Saturday walking has somehow been 84 miles. It’s a small miracle my feet survived. -Top 10 acts in no particular order were: Four Tet, Jon Hopkins, Car seat Headrest, The National, Spiritualized, Belle & Sebastian, Lykke Li, DJ Koze, Ty Segall, The War on Drugs -I became the token American amigo with a wonderful group of Spaniards the first evening and met up with them the second day. I did have to abandon them today because I did miss a few bands on my list the night before. Hopefully grab drinks with them before I fly back. -Arctic Monkeys new songs are passable live, but the overall performance was pretty uninspired. As a fan of the band, I feel like they sometimes have a lack of energy. -Only real bad experience with people talking at stage was at Arctic Monkeys and I had to tell a group of 5 Spanish guys after 10 minutes of loud banter, ‘eschuche la musica’, which from my couple years of Spanish in school I hoped meant ‘listen to the music’. -Didn’t run into nearly as many people trying to push their way forward as American fests, which was a welcome change of pace -The beer system was a bit of a mess when things got busy. They have entire sections sharing a single credit card swiper and it appeared only one manager could ring out cash transactions on the one shared register. Had no problem with food whatsoever and it’s a nice setup with a central food court area and a few other rows scattered throughout the fest -Definitely a long walk from one side of the fest to the other, but it also made any schedule conflicts easier by taking the one with the shorter walk
Overall, had an amazing time and there’s a good chance I’ll try to make it back next year. Barcelona is a truly breataking city.
Daphni > Four Tet DJ > DJ Seinfeld > The War On Drugs > Bjork > Nick Cave > Vince Staples > Nils Frahm > Four Tet Live > DJ Koze
Floating Points > DJ Wey > Essaie Pas > Rhye > The National > Ride > Charlotte Gainsbourg > Edward > Arca > DJ Dustin b2b Konstantin > Hunee b2b Antal > The Black Madonna
Palms Trax > Jane Birkin > Slowdive > Grizzly Bear > OPN > Jon Hopkins > John Talabot > Aleksi Perala > Donato Dozzy > DJ Coco
Everything I saw was good but the best were: Spiritualized, Nick Cave, Four Tet, DJ Koze, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Hunee b2b Antal, Jane Birkin, Slowdive, Grizzly Bear, Jon Hopkins, Aleksi Perala, and DJ Coco
This is the best festival, we had a really big group of people that were semi together so I always was running into people I knew everywhere and always had people to see shows with even in another country. Made it to sunrise every morning and we even went to the beach after the last day
