Did anyone happen to stroll by platinum camping this year? Took massively chunk of prime retail behid What field so that all of 8 people could tent camp in the biglyest way ever. Massive waste of space, massive cut into What field camping, bigly mistake.
They'll probably raise the price and expand the campground next year to address it.
Yes, thought it was strange how empty the space was. LN definitely has a value prop issue with those tickets. I know that I buy VIP and wouldn't even consider the up charge to Platinum. LN is going to have to change something to make it more attractive or scale back their expectations.

You could a) add things to Platinum to increase the value or you could b) take things away from everyone else to make Platinum think they are getting more value..........this is Live Nation after all.
I hope everyone who went VIP this year let them have it on the survey. I was pretty heated upon setting up camp when we realized just how large of an area they sectioned off for Platinum. They could've made do with 1/10 of the space, maybe less. Give them their little space with the elevated viewing area so they never even have to leave the campgrounds but why on earth did they have to take up the area that they did. As shameless as a cash grab can get, theoretically they can continue to add more tiers which absolutely would not surprise me. What do they have to lose, they don't sell less tickets by offering these. I urge anyone who wasted money on these to not make the same mistake again. Seriously. The special viewing areas? 1/10 full even at the late night shows. We did one show from the regular VIP area at Which and politely asked if we could stand in the platinum area for the shows thereafter since it was being criminally underutilized. Same thing at the Other viewing area.
I did VIP and while it was a bit of a surprise to see the space allocated to Platinum in the Campgrounds it did not effect my VIP camping experience. The Which stage pit would be my main complaint as what was once a 50/50 GA/VIP split now has Peasant VIP pushed back fairly far for Platinum (agree that was always empty) and RLARS (also empty most times). The Centeroo VIP area had a small Platinum area that never had anyone in it, they were always slumming it with us in the main tent
LN probably left the camping space far larger than needed cause 1. Didn't sell enough Peasant VIP tickets to reclaim 2. Gives folks who may of been teetering on going Platinum next year an idea of space and all that.
I didn't see anything overall that made me even think of doing the Platinum path next year. RLARS cabins...yea that may shake loose but is a different beast
It's mid-tier bougie VIP...for when you want to be better than regular VIP but don't rate to share oxygen with RLARS

I figured it was a way to get more per ticket without really stepping anything up. A wall and a few more small tents seems to be the extent of additional infrastructure they put in. At 2500 per it prob does not take much in sales to recoup the additional cost. I am sure they feel there is a gap between RLARS and Peasant VIP where they are leaving money on the table. This is the first stab at getting it.
Alas it only takes a good VIP program and begins to water it down.

That would make me not go to Bonnaroo. The pit system is one of my favorite things about Bonnaroo.
Edit: Actually they already let RLARS in before everyone that's waited in line. But I don't think anyone took advantage of that for Chance the Rapper. I think it would be an almost empty pit if you made it exclusively for Plats and RLARS.

That would make me not go to Bonnaroo. The pit system is one of my favorite things about Bonnaroo.

I'm just saying that I don't know that they care that much.
