I want a tent one day to be nothing but Sabbath cover bands: Zakk Sabbath, Mac Sabbath the McDonald themed cover band, Brown Sabbath the latino themed Sabbath cover band, Mistress of Reality the all female Sabbath cover band

Didn't Brown Sabbath play last year? Either way that would be a great way to spend a day.

The metal shows at bonnaroo have always been some of my favorite shows there. Was really disappointed to not see any on this years lineup and really hope we can get a few back this year. Probably the only time I spent an entire day at one stage was 2009 with Dillinger, shadows fall, high on fire, and coheed. What a great day
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

They opened the Which stage one day in 2015. I drunkenly stumbled from inforoo brunch over to it.

I don't know if they'll still be active next summer but I'd love to get dead cross there, maybe close a tent down Thursday
faith no more would also be tight
Oh I'd take faith no more over just about anything because I adore that band. I have no reason to believe they'll reform For a random summer tour though so dead cross seems like the most logical and possible thing to me To get Patton in the farm.

Okay but realistically what metal bands would Bonnaroo actually book
If you look back at the metal bands they've booked in the past they've always surprised with the quality. That's the one genre they've always excelled in I think so really everything is possible. Or used to be....

Yeah but this is post 2015 Bonnaroo. It's not the same people booking the lineup anymore

Agreed that's why I sadly think this thread is a waste of all our time because I doubt they'll be any metal on next years lineup

Yeah those are my thoughts too. Like Deftones and Ghost would make sense but I'm not too sure if that would even happen now. I always thought Anthrax would be fun on the farm but Bonnaroo doesn't really book older artists anymore. I think at the most maybe we'll end up with a metal band or two on the last couple lines of the lineup.

I would guess hipster metal, pop metal, and Warped Tour metal would still be in play. So Deafheaven, Pallbearer, Babymetal, Job for a Cowboy, Devil Wears Prada, etc. Ghost is probably mainstream enough to get a book. Possibly Mastodon too. And, of course, Metallica is definitely a possibility as a headliner.

One headlining act I'd like to see, even though it is extremely unlikely to happen, is Iron Maiden. Even though I don't see why; I always thought Maiden was big in the south. I agree with you on Babymetal, Ghost and Mastodon, they've played there twice, on having a decent shot at playing. Unfortunately I think Deafheaven is one and done with Bonnaroo. I'm pretty sure they had the smallest crowd the year they played at Bonnaroo.

It might not be LN. I think I remember reading that Coach had been after Maiden to headline for years. Considering Coach is before the Euro Fest season, they seem a more likely landing spot for Maiden if they were inclined to play US festivals. Unless LN just had a huge Maiden boner and threw crazy money at them, there is no way they're going to match what Maiden gets on the Euro metal circuit, where they're THE headliner on pretty much any bill they hit.
