Probably won't be. Alex Turner seems like a pretty boring guy these days.
Yeah, I don't know why I have this delusion that I'll be seeing the pre-Suck It And See Arctic Monkeys, but I'm still going to the Pittsburgh date. Hope this album surprises me, but I'm expecting more of the last one.
AM had some great songs. Most of it was just SO similar that at times it kinda melted together. I’m gonna go into this album cautiously because I found a lot of Everything You’ve Come to Expect to be kinda meh. But would love for another great release from them.

Last Shadow Puppets is one of the few shows I've ever walked out on

Some of the live streams I saw of their festival sets looked terrible.
It was a no brainer but I'm glad I picked Bryan Ferry over them when they both played Boston on the same night.

They were good at Coachella. One of my favorite shows of Lolla 16. If Radiohead didn’t play one of the greatest shows in history it would have been my favorite. But Alex was on another level that night. I’ve seen vids of him kinda phoning it in

How about that Radiohead show though? Probably my favorite of the four times I've seen them. Thom was was otherworldly to say the least.

It was my first time seeing them and it was a perfect show. My mind was blown. I was casually into them at first and that had me leaving obsessed. I kinda never thought I would see them

I thought they were really good at Lolla. No crowd issues thanks to j cole who was playing at the same time.

I wouldn't romanticize early AM live performances too much. I saw them at Roseland in NYC a few months after their debut came out and it was one the most awkward shows I've even seen in a mid-size room. Zero lighting/production, band seemed like they were still in the process of learning how to play their songs live. Flash forward a year later, they had turned into a totally different beast which shows what a year on the road can do to a band.

I frankly didn't think AM was all that great either during the Humbug era in 2009. Yes, their playing was tight and on point, but too many long pauses between songs killed all the momentum.

Best era was the Favourite Worst Nightmare time. Saw them twice on that tour, once at Hammerstein and the other at Summerstage in NYC. Crowd and band were totally energetic. I think some days I prefer FWN to the debut, it's like the weirder quirkier younger brother.
I am with jorgethekraken on this. Siamese Dream is a great album. Mellon Collie only had a handful of good songs. And everything after that was just straight up bad. But in any event, we are all pretty much in agreement that 1998 was the last time they even released anything remotely relevant. Its 2018. 20 years since people cared. No wonder this tour is drawing flies.
Maybe Marilyn Manson and Hole were join forces this year to finish their aborted arena tour from 1998?

Just popping in to say I totally slept on David Byrne’s record. I’ve been diving into it the past couple of days and, while I know a lot of folks found it hit and miss, I’m kind of digging it all the way through. I’m now even more looking forward to his set at Pano...although I hope we don’t end up with a Tribe-esque situation in which he only gets an hour.
I don't think anyone expected this Cardi B album to be this damn good. Moved up the top of my list as most anticipated for Pano.
Is it really that great? I haven' listened or even seen anything about it yet
The amount of co-writers on each track is pretty crazy. 5-6 writers per track and 1-2 producers per track...serious question, is she actually writing any of this material or is she just the vehicle for it?

Is that dramatically different from artists like Beyoncé, Kanye West and upcoming Pano headliner Janet Jackson?

I've got some interesting news for you about the music industry...

I'd argue there's a difference between people like Kanye and Beyonce who executive produce their records and personally curate their sounds/lyrics, versus something like Cardi B that's manufactured to a much greater extent.

There’s no disputing there’s plenty of quality music that isn’t written by the artist singing it, but there is something to be said about an artist having a connection to the music they’re singing.
