Assume this is dropping this week. Methinks this is "do or die" for this festival this year in terms of making a profit.
I cant see this festival leaving the NYC area, profit or not. Goldenvoice putting on a more "critically acclaimed" festival for the NYC Music scene, and NYC music reporters, is very valuable for them

Man, I'm on tenterhooks about this whole thing. Pano's unopposed headliner setup means one really crappy top-liner could affect my outlook for the whole festival.
Fucking Shakey knees has my money right now. It's perfect
It really is. If I could justify the travel expenses vs. the fact that GovBall and Pano are walking distance from my apartment, that'd be far and away my choice.

Pano had no unopposed headliners last year.
Really? Girl Talk ended at 9:30...who was opposite Frank Ocean?
As for the other two days, I guess I should clarify that I don't really count DJs at The Point as an opposing act. Nicolas Jaar, Justice, and Snakehips all ended pretty early in the headliner's set, didn't they?
There's a 50/50 chance I do this or Newport this year. Given the nature of ticket sales in the past, I think I'm safe on buying a ticket until the full Newport lineup is out. Hopefully can snag another $100 pass couple weeks before.

Why? Theo Parrish, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Derrick Carter are all great DJs and are opposing acts in this case.
See also: Not being super pumped about the headliners is actually sorta a bonus at Panorama/Gov Ball, because it gives you the chance to leave a little early and beat the mob trying to get off the island at the end of the night. Having a stacked undercard and headliners you don't mind leaving early is ideal, imho.

I can see why he is saying that. The point isnt really a stage. There is no production or anything. Most people just stop off there in between acts or when nothing is going on.

It's a smaller stage, but it's still a stage. Looks like an open-air version of the Yuma from Coachella.

Yeah, this. I guess I should have clarified. I mean, I thought the Point was a step down from Despacio, but even as much as I loved Despacio, I wouldn't consider someone spinning in there an "opposing act" w/r/t the headliner. That's just, like, my personal thing, of course, and no disrespect to anyone who doesn't look at it that way.

To each their own, of course! Personally, I like being there until the last note is played.

I didn't go last year so I missed this stage, but from the sounds of things it reminds me of The Woods at FYF. It was pretty bare bones from a production standpoint, but it featured legit acts who were all on the poster.

When I walked into the fest last year the point was the first "stage"I walked though, I thought it was really cool. Especially if you compare to gov ball which is VERY generic with their setup. It's got great shade, and was an interesting way to get introduced to panorama
