I feel into a Swedish pop music rabbit hole the other night and came across Karin’s early Cardigans-esque band. The drummer in this band is a huge deal in Sweden too (much bigger than Karin)
Still have fond memories of My Bloody Valentine playing to a sea of pissed off Tool fans at All Points West in 2009.
I'm a Tool fan and I would have loved that.
Same here. I think I was one of the few people there for BOTH sets. Another odd thing from that day is that Gogol Bordello played AFTER the Arctic Monkeys on the main stage.

i was at all of those sets! minus the mud, it was a great day.

APW 2009 was stacked in retrospect: Tool, Jay-Z, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Lykke Li, MGMT, The National, Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, St. Vincent, Crystal Castles, Elbow, Silversun Pickups.
Back to panorama for a second, has there been any real concrete evidence the line up imminent? The first one came in March the second one in January. Maybe February this time and meet in the middle.

Last year felt early. I'm wondering if this year has slowed down because of the task of possibly booking FYF?
I saw this quote in response to the Sean Carlson deal, "Tollett asked agents to direct all inquires regarding Coachella booking to him, was independently corroborated by several other agents who had received it." So maybe this has caused them to get behind on booking some of the other events.

huh. Good to know it’s entirely possible. Plus they’re probably arranging some two festival contracts with acts. I think we’ll get both in a few weeks.
I miss APW. A friend of mine's mother worked for the state and got us in for free both years.
That park is so much nicer than Randalls Island but it's such a bitch to get to. No wonder sales were low. Even two nights of Radiohead in 2008 couldn't sell it out.

I'd guess the only thing driving it is market saturation in NYC. Every day they don't release it, more people buy Gov Ball tickets, more summer concert tours are announced, and their window closes a bit. For a festival that has a lot of trouble moving tickets, you have to think the sooner you release and can start selling tickets, the better.

Nicer because of the backdrop of the skyline and statue of liberty. But like you said, way harder to get to than Randalls (hard to believe). Also way less space, and since it was in a state park; they only allowed alcohol in designated areas.

Do Tool fans like anything besides Tool?
Tool is my wife's favorite band, but she loves all kinds of shit - her other favorite shows from last year were Tame Impala and LCD Soundsystem, and we were both equally bummed to miss Kendrick because his show was on the night of our rehearsal dinner.
