Any reason to believe The National are out for this?
I don't think they would accept anything less than headliner at this point.
They're not even headlining at the festival they help curate, pretty sure they'd be fine subbing at Pano. Just kind of lazy booking for a fest this new to repeat a bigger artist so soon

Guessing Fever Ray popping up on Lightning in a Bottle and a few other non AEG fests; probably confirms the rumor that she doesn't want to work with them over the anti-lgbtq stories. Bummer. I was hoping she'd be on Pano. Seeing her at her own NYC show will be cool though.
This is off to a great start with Arctic Monkeys, David Byrne, War on Drugs, and Fleet Foxes all likely.
I hope this is true, but why The War on Drugs?
They're playing XPN Fest on the Saturday of Pano so they can easily play this on Fri or Sun. Also they're playing Coachella which leads to the Goldenvoice connection.

But at Boston Calling they can at least close a large stage. Playing sub again at Panorama doesn't appear well for their career.

Did Pano last year, can help if anyone going needs to know logistics.
I'd stay in Queens/Astoria Park over Harlem or Manhattan, the walk back across the bridge isn't bad at all, especially if you can find a place that's close to where the bridge lets off. Prices are pretty reasonable in that area too, I paid $95/night.
Harlem was closer but felt a tiny bit sketchy when we got over there, but was easy to work down to the upper east side from there.

They already sold out a show at Forest Hills on this tour cycle so I think they're pretty comfortable with their career trajectory. Would they really turn down a massive paycheck playing a set 20 minutes from where they live because they aren't closing a stage? They don't strike me as that type of band.

All the band members now live in different parts of the country (Bryce even all the way in Paris). It's not impossible, but I'd be disappointed if they settle for an hour long set.

Either way they're not big enough to headline any fest bigger than Shaky Knees
Highly doubt The National will play. They're doing a one-off at Irving Plaza next week but assume they might play one more bigger NYC-area show on this cycle.
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t they just play an incredibly undersold MSG show? Would they really give them a headlining spot a few months after that?

Yupp with Royal Blood, bought a ticket the day of that for $28. Very few people in NYC are begging for QOTSA to come back again this Summer.
Perhaps Lana Del Rey is one of their headliners which, likely due to the fact that her Newark show is selling so poorly, is holding up the lineup release.

If it doesn’t come out this week I will believe this.

are we really surprised though? karin is incredibly political and if she isn't known for music, she and her brother are definitely known for their protests. i know i said i was surprised that she wasn't on the coachella lineup but that was before i was reminded of their shady ass dealings. perhaps im being a biased fan but thats how i see it
