I mean they're playing Coachella. I'm sure Gov Ball will have it's own EDM garbage, but Chains seem more likely for Pano.
I must disagree. I think Pano is more like FYF than Coachella.
They're already headlining Hangout.
I really hope they don't end up headlining Pano, since this festival doesn't book anyone opposite the headliners. I had fun at Deadmau5 at GovBall '15 despite not being an EDM fan in general or a Deadmau5 fan, in particular, but I don't think there are enough drugs and alcohol in the world to get me to enjoy a headlining Chainsmokers set.
Booking The Chainsmokers unopposed to headline this is pretty much a double or nothing move. It will either help move a ton of tickets to shitty teens, or decimate sales even worse by alienating who actually actually shows up to this.

Booking The Chainsmokers would certainly hurt 3-Day ticket sales, but if folks didn't want to see them they could just not buy a ticket for that day. All in all would be a bad fit for the festival but I'd imagine they'd sell some tix.
Wasnt Solange #2 last year as well? Annie seems on par compared to those two
I thought Solange was much bigger than St Vincent, no?
Definitely. In the span of less than 4 months in NYC she played Panorama, Afropunk, a show at Radio City with Dave Chappelle, and two of her own shows there that were very close to, if not completely, sold out. Annie couldn't pull that off.

St Vincent is a smaller, more rabid fan base. But she's an indie darling, especially since the David Byrne thing. I saw that as kind of passing the torch
Oh I did too. Solange into Frank was one of the best things at any fest I went to this year and her Radio City show was even better. Just joking around with Paul Tollet's fluffer
Vampire Weekend • Lana Del Rey Chance the Rapper • Sigur Rós Florence + the Machine • Major Lazer
The Weeknd • Lana Del Rey Vampire Weekend • Flume Chance the Rapper • Bon Iver
No one would buy a 3 day pass to this, so you might as well just flip flop Vampire Weekend and Chance.
That way Friday and Saturday are for the kids with all of them being Top 40 artists.
Then you can hope that the fanbase you built to this point wasn't totally put of by this total sell-out attempt and will come back for Vampire/BonIver.

You could flip Lana with flume and I'd go to this in a heartbeat
It's good to hear you had such a good time at Panorama - NYC's cooler, more adult music festival.
"Adult music festival" sounds like an oxymoron. I said this before: it's interesting how people - not singling you out - decide more or less what's good taste; as if there's something that says you can't hold acts like Björk and Lil Uzi Vert in the same regard

This has literally been the case with all art since pre-historic times...

its almost like some people like some things and other people like other things.

We can certainly argue about the criteria that we use to judge art and quality music, but there are good reasons for having those criteria in the first place.
To start with your example: Björk's music is far more sophisticated with mature themes, versus superficial trap beats by Uzi Vert and lyrical content that you grow out of. Thus, the former would have more place at the adult music festival.

Bjork has only played New York's "non adult" music festival thus far; and shared a bill with the likes of Rae Sremmurd and Future. Im confused is her music sophisticated or not?
I think “adult” is the wrong term. Festivals have target audiences. I think it’s safe to say that gov ball has shifted away from the likes of ever booking Bjork again and her name on a poster today would probably have a lot of teens pissed off that they wasted the spot on her instead of uzi vert or post malone

I said that she would have more place at a so-called adult music festival than Lil Uzi Vert (or Rae Sremmurd and Future for that matter). Not that she doesn't fit on a lineup with those acts (even though her set at GovBall barely retained attentive people).
Okay I should clarify. By "good taste" I mean, in general, why are some artists talked up and some talked down if in their target audiences they're both held in the same high regard? I'm a fan of Björk. I'm a fan of Uzi. Both are great at what they do. Uzi put out the song of the year in my opinion. What does growing out of lyrics matter?
For example: Tyler's been great at what he does and has been putting out great music from the jump and has constantly evolved. You can say he grew out of his old music but it shouldn't diminish what he put out. It's only this year he's been widely accepted with Flower Boy. Why? Why are people so concerned about sophistication and acclaim? I'm confused how that translates into good taste
The age range of fans of both of those artists is completely different which is basically what he said when he said the adult music festival. Seems pretty self explanatory.

I'm a big fan of XO Tour Life as well, and right now I would play trap music over Bjork's stuff since I'm not really that big of a fan of hers.
Again, we all have different criteria for what makes good music/art, and I'm not here to bash on anybody's taste in music.
That said, IMO the best way to judge sophistication in art/music is how it holds up over the years. Think of all the music you loved say, 5 to 10 years ago, and then see how much of that you still listen to today, or appreciate in the same manner. Fact is, we all grow out of certain music, in the same manner that we don't hold Barney the Dinosaur to the same esteem that we did when we were four years old.
So if we're gonna talk music festivals and the niche they are trying to encapture, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that some music festivals try to go for acts that are still going to be talked about a decade down the road, versus trying to book whatever fad is popular right now under teenagers/young adults with disposable income.

Because the devaluing of sophistication is something that should never be celebrated
