Been a long time since I visited this site; took months to get over missing last year. Two questions as my memory has gone poof:
A) On the two-day passes, we can pick the specific days, is that correct? B) Someone posted earlier they were glad they already had tix. I recall receiving a survey asking how I felt about early bird sales, but nothing since then. And secondary resellers already have tix up. Was there a pre-sale I missed?

2 Day is Saturday and Sunday only.

There was a members club introduced at the festival last year. It was 100.00 to guarantee 2 tickets to 2018. My opinion, it was not worth it.

I did the membership as well and found it was 100% worth it. The fact that I didn't have to stress about the on-sale and the opportunity to support the foundation makes it a no-brainer.

Agreed! It's a charitable donation to support the foundation and to further help the Newport Festival Foundation with its mission. It's not correct to look at the benefits and compare it to whether you received $100 in value back. If you did receive benefits equal to $100, in fact, it wouldn't or shouldn't be a charitable donation.
Hahaha, I just watched it with my girlfriend and let out a sudden "oh shit!" when I saw us pop up on the screen!
(I'm the one with a camera blocking half of beaker)
My friend, Tanya, is directly to both of your right. Dancing hard in the dark hair and sunglasses. I can't really tell in that video, but her hair was likely purple tinted.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Thanks. I was just curious. Having missed the festival last year i was not up-to-date with the current policy. I probably would have paid the $100 as well, but others support the Foundation in other ways, so it's all good. Thanks for the input.
Is there a catch to Lyte? You just get in line and get to purchase a face value ticket that someone else sells for face value?
Trying to figure out a backup plan in case things go wrong on Wednesday.
The biggest catch for me was that I had a huge number of people ahead of me for Saturday tickets and the number seemed to barely move. Then, several weeks prior, it was like New Year's countdown at Times Square. Unfortunately, we had a major conflict and had to sell tickets for both days. Lyte was easy to work with, especially with buying and selling so rapidly. I could have made money going through Stub Hub, but I really believe Newport is about community.
I don't recall whether I lost a few dollars in the end, or came out even with all the transactions. The price for the tickets was above face value -- no surprise considering there are expenses and employees involved in these transactions. Still, a much better deal than you could get anyplace else. Just don't wait. Apply right away if you miss out on Wednesday.
I did have to eat parking passes, which you can buy at the gate, and ended up sending them with my compliments to someone on this site who, come to think of it, owes me a beer in 2018!

If anyone is looking for a room for this years Festival, I went a little crazy and booked 4 rooms at the Newport Motel 6 (next to the Walmart) a few days after the 2017 festival ended.. I only need 2, so we have 2 available. Hotel rate is $600 for all 5 nights (July 25-30). One King room, one queen room (2 beds).

Seconding everything op336 has to say about Lyte.
We moved cross country last year about a month before tickets went on sale and I forgot which coast’s 10am I was supposed to be online for. Missing out on tickets wrecked me for a week or so and I was resigned to paying stub hub prices again.
BUT I posted my heartbreak on reddit and Dan Swain told me to hold tight until the official resale went live. He messaged me as soon as it went up so I was way up in the line and got my first two three day passes in February I think.
I wound up putting myself back in line for single day Friday and Saturday tickets, and after watching the line crawl for months it lept ahead and I managed to get two tickets each for each. Really glad it’s back again this year. I’m buying tomorrow but I haven’t fully sold friends and family yet so I’m glad there will still be a chance for them.

One hour to go... very nervous right now. I get nervous at this time every year for some reason even though I've never missed out on tickets and the Lyte option is an excellent insurance policy.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

If still available, I may be interested in this. First, I need to see if I can get tickets today. Later tonight or tomorrow I want to sit down with my friends and discuss lodging.
Got my Saturday-only ticket! It'll be my third time going, and I'm thinking about bringing my son (who will be almost 2 years old) with me to his first festival
Got my tickets! Convinced a small group of friends to go this year so you won't see me at QC, but you sure as hell can bet I'll be sharing a 'Gansett with you fine folks while rocking out to *insert artist here*.
