Alright, another amazing weekend at the Fort is in the books and now there's nothing left to do but start fantasizing about being back
As of right now it's looking like next year my group will finally be staying in town all weekend and hopefully finally making it to the aftershows. Hearing about those nights was heartbreaking.
Last year I started off with 12 predictions and got 6 right (if you count Hiss Golden Messenger and Sam Cohen). Let's see if I can beat it.
Neil Young (never give up hope) Justin Vernon solo Josh Ritter Cat Power The Lone Bellow Eddie Vedder Maggie Rogers Randy Newman Saintseneca Phosphorescent Chris Robinson Brotherhood Julie Byrne
Headliner Predictions: Arcade Fire, Sheryl Crow (induction into rock and roll hall of fame should occur next year and should have a woman headliner after a male dominated headliner list this year) and Sturgill Simpson. I'm always hoping for the Boss, Neil Young and Eddie Vedder
Other Predictions: Ryan Bingham, Maggie Rogers, Sylvan Esso (maybe Echo Mountain Sessions), Susto, Frankie Lee, Amanda Shires, and Dawes.
It was a long Monday, but can't wait for next year. And yes, great to have tickets already secured for next year!

Sturgill would be awesome. Would also enjoy more Isbell.
Bring Lillie Mae Rische to represent Third Man Records. Let Margo Price have her own set (has she done her own? I've only seen/known her as showing up as a guest).
Old Crow Medicine Show making a return could be nice.
I feel like Jason Isbell, Deer Tick, The Lone Bellow, Margo Price, and Hiss Golden Messenger are pretty much no-brainers as far as Newport staples go.
EDIT: I imagine The Ballroom Thieves will be back as well
Here's a more extensive wishlist though:
Father John Misty Benjamin Booker Joanna Newsom Sharon Van Etten Willie Nelson Megafaun Fantastic Negrito Sheryl Crow Courtney Barnett Anderson East Tedeschi Trucks Band The War On Drugs This Is The Kit Sampha Greensky Bluegrass Antibalas Vagabon The White Buffalo something involving one or both Dessner brothers

Margo played her own set last year on the quad right after the Texas Gentlemen/Kris Kristofferson performance, and I believe did one in the museum in 2015. But she'll have a new record by next year so I'd put money on her getting a Fort Stage set
Hey guys! I enjoyed this year more than words can tell and I look forward to claiming my crown again at the NFF Bingo Champ . Here is my list of predictions/hopes/far-fetched ideas:
Headliners: Arcade Fire Jack White's American Epic Dawes + Friends (Making up for lost time this year) - - - - - - - - - - - - Feist Arlo Guthrie The Shins Trey Anastasio Band (Depending on Phish Summer Tour schedule but he's long overdue at the Fort and adored his time in 2008) Stephen Stills + Judy Collins Margo Price Justin Vernon (Solo) Sharon Van Etten Kurt Vile + Courtney Barnett Woods

Would love to see Frank Turner back here.
Always a supporter of The Lone Bellow because they are my favorite and they are releasing new music this fall.
Margo Price Chris Stapleton Brandi Carlile
Also - My group is very seriously considering doing a house next year instead of two motel rooms ---- anyone have any recommendations? Where do you rent from and how far from the fort do you stay?

This is the most likely to happen, if not just CB when her album comes out.
I'm hoping the same. I have a feeling the KV+CB tour won't be lasting that long, but I'd love to see Courtney tear up a main stage set if they'd let her

If anyone is counting, the Newport spotify account was listening to Arcade Fire as of 4 days ago.
It's a shame Jay set his account to private, cause I'm actually more interested in his musical tastes than finding out any of the Newport bookings that he may inadvertently have given away over the years. Just wanna know what he's listening to.
For those of you that are Massachusetts based, Deer Tick New Years Eve just got announced: www.axs.com/search?q=deer%20tick&venue=124878 Apparently Stevie Nicks made a surprise appearance at their New Years Eve show a couple of years ago in Brooklyn.

In terms of improvements/changes I would love to see for 2018 in the hopes that maybe someone important takes a gander over here once in a while....
that beer garden near the quad stage - holy cow could it use some reorganization. They have so much space towards the back end. I think they could shift the tent selling drinks more towards the back to free up some more space closer to the front where you can see the screen instead of leaving all that space in the back open with only those little tables and where its kind of hard to hear from. The combo of the drink tent being directly across from those two food tents creates such a mob of people just standing around.

Sylvan esso Rayland baxter Mike ness Lowest pair Tedeschi trucks Little willies Phish Bonnie raitt Pearl jam Sheer mag
on the last podcast jay mentioned a artists sometimes being booked beause they simply gave into the demand from fans on social media and others in their circles asking about them playing. could this be a hint to Pearl Jam, via that "get pearl jam to Newport" account?
I fully support pushing any bands that we all want to play the fort in the right direction here
if there were one artist we could all collectively agree on and focus our efforts towards, who would it be? Neil Young? that's my guess of the most desired. paul simon might be the other.

So, our group grew this year -- we went from 6 in 2016 to 14 this year. We booked an Airbnb just a few days after tickets went on sale (approx. November 30th) to see who would actually commit, but still could have probably used a bigger house after friends added on with success on Lyte. We've stayed at Portsmouth the last two years -- it's about 20-30 minutes from the Fort. Both years we've had waterfront properties; this year with a private beach. Although I'm always so jealous of the after-parties + I keep swearing that I'll go to at least one the following year, there's something really nice about heading back to a quiet house on the water + grilling out while blasting the music from that day.

I stayed in Portsmouth this year. We go to all the after shows so it was a bit far out for us. I already booked 2 nights at the Motel 6 to hold the rooms for now, but I'll be reviewing throughout the year to see if we can find a cool place.
