Hey guys! I've been to Bonnaroo twice before, 2012 and 2013. First year I went with a group of friends and the 2nd year I went alone. I just purchased my tickets for 2018!! I am doing car camping. I have a 14ft x 10ft cabin style tent. I don't want to be "that girl" and take up way too much space, but I am really wanting to set up camp in my cabin tent.I also wanted to set up a 9x9 canopy in front of the tent. Do you guys think the size would be an issue? I'm used to setting up in like a 3 or 4 person tent. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I feel like the correct answer is yes, 14 X 19 is more space than you can count on if you're camping by your car.

The camping sites are measured out at 10x10. So yes, your tent alone is going to be way too big for your spot, let alone setting up your canopy as well. Especially if you're just one person, you should def size down to a smaller tent. You can find a smaller tent that is still tall enough to stand up in if that's what you're wanting tho. Then you can try for setting up your canopy too.
But if you're really set on the large tent then you should try and find some more people to come. Neighbours will be a bit more understanding if there are 3 people in that big of a tent instead of just one, just my opinion.

266 sq. ft versus your bog standard 100, so that's definitely not happening unless you have a friend in a separate car parking beside you. I wish Bonnaroo didn't pack 'em in so tightly, but it is what it is I suppose. Maybe camp at KOA instead?
The KOA has plenty of space. You're welcome to join our small group there. We split the total campsite costs evenly, and the per camper cost tends to drop as more campers are added. The ballpark price tag will approach what you'd pay to upgrade to VIP.
Thanks for all the input guys. I am going to bring my 4 person tent and canopy instead.I will do like I did last time. Set up canopy then set up tent under it, with tapestry's all around for a little bit of privacy. There are two of us for my spot so it will be plenty of room for us. I can't wait to be on the farm again!

Isn't the car camping size 20X20? Or is it 10X10 after you account for the size of the car?

It varies a bit based on year, where you are camped, which parking system they use, who the attendants are, etc., but it seems like Bonnaroo has been working hard in recent years to tighten up their "screw you" game. From 2010-2012 we had way more space than needed all 3 years and didn't even consider measuring, 2013-2015 we had just enough space for two 10x10 canopies each time as long as one slightly overhung our car, but in 2016 even that was not happening. Don't count on more than 10x10, even though there is more than enough space on the farm for them to give everyone a little more.

Very very good information. Thanks for the insight! So basically, I'd be taking a risk trying to cram 12 people into whatever space I end up getting.

Yeah, with one vehicle you'll get almost enough space for the occupants of the vehicle, most likely. Definitely introduce yourself to your neighbors and see how they set up camp - you may end up with some new friends, or they might leave altogether to go to Tent Only or to camp with friends somewhere else and give you their allotted space, you never know. The lack of space is one reason why quite a few folks here forego traditional tents entirely - consider not wasting space on a tent you will NOT want to be in once the sun rises and just sleep under a canopy. Bugs usually aren't bad at Roo, and it's normally warm enough at night to sleep outside.
If you are next to friends in another car or two you'll have some flexibility with what you do, otherwise don't expect much. Heck, you won't want to spend too many waking hours there anyway, if you do Roo right!
