Yeah, I'm on the side of breaking up the bill by gender is pretty lame.
"Furious to be (without approval) on an all-female & non-gender-binary announcement list for @moogfest. Gender is not a genre. I don't need a sympathy pedestal, esp from a male curator. Take my name off this list and put me in the pit with the boys." +1, Caroline.
The next release is not going to be just "the boys." As it's been noted already in this thread, the Moog's history is indelibly linked with the trans community, as no artist played a greater role in its evolution than Wendy Carlos. To think it's merely a "marketing gimmick" is to discount what the festival and Moog Music itself have stood for since the beginning. Caroline clearly did, particularly considering North Carolina's place as a battleground for not just trans and female rights, but of basic personhood, as her Taylor Swift-style feminism at its most one-dimensional would suggest.
She also had the opportunity to decline participation in the initial lineup release, just as many other participating artists have stated publicly in the aftermath, but her management failed to communicate any of that to her. She did, however, seize upon the occasion to loudly make some asinine points and lured a few other artists into offering kudos, so good for her.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Two Jon Hopkins sets!!!!!! Baaaaah when do they usually announce single day lineups for this? Would also love to see Kelela, Aurora Halal, DJ Stingray, Ellen Allien, Helena Hauff, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Shanti Celeste, UMFANG and Yves Tumor.
So tempted to go for Thursday night and see DJ Haram, Helena Hauff and Ellen Allien, work from a hotel/Airbnb on Friday and see Jon Hopkins and Shanti Celeste that night and fly home on Saturday. Decisions, decisions...

At least you get to watch it. Between Rock on the Range, Hangout Fest and this (along with the 2 free Disco Biscuits Sets this weekend and Non-COM and all their crazy shit), I'll be couching the fuck out of it this weekend. Shabazz Palaces is leading into their interview with some live music. Very cool there.
The fact that this festival hasn't completely folded yet amazes me. They could do such a great festival if they just booked a decent lineup, but they always fuck it up, charge too much, etc.

Last year’s was pretty good, don’t remember how expensive it was though.

There are many, many factors that have decided the current state of Moogfest, and you named none of them in your reasoning.
