For some, this is last "major" city on the way in from the north, north east, and far south and Florida.I'm a Chattanooga native, and have lived here all my life and know the city well. If anyone on their way in finds themselves needing to stop in for rest or relaxation before continuing on their journey,or needs some last minute supplies ( ), gets lost, want to know back roads or directions, or find out where to get the crap you left at home, hit me up. Any first timers going and not really sure what to do when to get to manchester or not really sure how to get there or just likes the idea of following someone up, me and my people will be meeting up probably somewhere near the Tiftonia exit around 6am.We are about and hour away form the site, and from my current homebase in Dade County,Ga(which by the way,you will pass briefly thru on your way,DO NOT SPEED,WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT,THEY DONT PLAY.)its even less.I know you may be thinking "thats kind of early",but in 2007,by the time we ate breakfast, smoked, got gas and ice and skins and cigs and all that,it was 7:30,then as soon as you pass The i-59 split and leave that little piece(of sh!t) Ga,you cross into the central time zone so you gain an hour. so we arrived in Manchester at 7:30 (which was trippy in itself) waited on the side of 24 for about two hours, got onto the site, thur security and parked and unpacked by 11.And we got decently close to Centeroo and toilets,so it worked out well. Any way,any one finding themselves in need of assistance in the Chattanooga area for anything(and i mean ANYthing) on the way to the promise land, heres the thread.P.M. for digits.
just wanted to get this back to the front page...for real, anyone needs a conselir- conslier- cons- damn local yocal for directions, info, last minute supplies or party favors,PM me...

ok i just wanted to get the back to the front again now that were like 16 days out but this time i want to update it with some pertinents.
DRY ICE:i saw this in other threads and posed about it somewhere, but im afraid mt infor was incorrect.there USED to be a place off of I24 that sold dry ice but i cant find it anywhere on the web.the only place i can find is Tennessee Valley Dry Ice and its on S creek road which is directly across from Chatt State on Amnicola Highway, which is right up Hwy153,right off I75 south.it would be about a twenty minute detour, plus the time it takes to complete your transaction.dry ice is best used when purchased last minute.
There is a Sportsmans Warehouse off 153 as well, and they have EVERYTHING YOU COULD WANT FOR CAMPING.FIRST EXIT,LEE HIGHWAY,TURN LEFT.
Wal-mart:once you hit tennesse they are everywhere.in chattanooga, ther are several in the area with relatively easy access, but some are more crowded than others.the best ones to hit would be brainerd road or cummings highway.
to get to brainerd road walmart, take the first exit after you get pass the I-75 S-I24 W split (<<<<ATL/NASHVILLE-DOWNTOWN CHATT>>>>) and thats MOORE ROAD.turn RIGHT on MOORE RD and take it to BRAINERD RD.turn RIGHT on BRAINERD RD then go about a mile and walmart entrance is on teh right.
if you stop at this Wal mart, the easy way to get back to 24 WEST (you can see walmart from the freeway)would be to go out the back way, behind the walmart auto center, where you will run parrallell to 24 all the way to an entrance ramp.take lefts at the first two intersections coming around eastgate mall, then go straight across at SPRING CREEK ROAD ONTO S TERRACE ROAD.youll come up on MOORE ROAD(YEP THE EXIT YOU JUST GOT OFF OF),cross MOORE ROAD, and jump back on I24 just past MOORE ROAD.(if you miss the MOORE RD entrance, you will have two more opportunities along S TERRACE,with the 2nd one being a straight on shot with a red/greenlight.
If you want to stop at cummings highway, get off I24 at LOOKOUT VALLEY EXIT,TURN LEFT.walmart is up on the RIGHT.this walmart isnt as big as the one above ,so might not carry as much.and there are more package and liquor stores in the area of the above walmart.
TRAFFIC:depending on the day of the week and weather, traffic in this town can BLOW GOATS. If your coming 75 south, start preparing for backups once you hit the first Cleveland exit.stop and get gas,use the BR,get snacks, etc.the bad areas for back ups are usually between Ooltewah Exit and Shallowford road exit, and Shallowford road exit and the 75-24 split and from the 24 split thru the ridge cu...PRETTY MUCH ANYWHERE BETWEEN CLEVELAND AND MANCHESTER CAN SUCK!BE READY FOR IT... if there are vehicles on the side of the road and especially EMERGENCY VEHICLES,MOVE OVER ONE LANE!DECREASE YOUR SPEED BY 10MPH IF YOU CANT GET OVER IT IS LAW AND THEY WILL PULL YOUR ASS OVER IF YOU DONT.(AS I TYPE THIS,THE RADIO JUST ANNOUNCED A WRECK ON 24 W AT MILE MARKER 165 INVOLVING TWO 18WHEELERS,LOL). if you have a laptop,an air card or some form of internet for your travel, check this out. www.tdot.state.tn.us/tdotsmartway/
once you hit athens tennesse, you can tune to wgow 102.3fm for local news, talk,AND TRAFFIC.
if you breakdown or run out of gass between ooltewah and manchester, you can call 911 and TDOT HELP TRUCKS will come to your aid.they will give you gas.they will change your tire.they wont hassle you or give you problems, just dont do or leave nothing out in the open.
COPS: they hide, they are sneaky, and they know yall are coming. wear your seatbelts, use your signals(in Tennessee, its courtesy,NOT LAW,to change lanes with a signal, according to former Soddy Daisy Police officer and current TN HEALTH AND SAFETY COUNCIL DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE INSTRUCTOR ONDEL MEEKS,#803377)
REMEMBER,I 24 MAKES A SMALL LOOP THRU PART OF GEORGIA,DADE COUNTY and the sherrifs as well as GSP AND GDOT do not play in this area.they will sit at the state line.wear your seatbelt,do the speed limit, keep your unmentionables put away.Tennessee is lax on passenger open containers,Georgia, not so much.
Whne you get to Dade county, there are two gas stations off the Wildwood exit that have the lowest prices on gas in this area, the Pilot and Race trac.
if you get lost, keep driving.youll eventually find your way back to the interstate.
if you need help or want a number for a local that can help you if you get lost or need assistance with things not covered here, call me1pm for number.
