The turnout for Nick Cave and Darkside killed Late Nights imo
Saturday 2016 was brutal since they had alter the schedule due to lightening. After Pearl Jam your options were Adventure club, Kamasi Superjam and big grams.
I think it’s fair to say that Old Bonnaroo has more LN than it really needed, some of those 3-4am tents were ghost towns and I’ve heard artists hated playing them. But knowing that if you wanted to there was something worth seeing around the clock was great.
Maybe the barns will be a suitable replacement. I guess we’ll see.
This is a pretty accurate take. I loved late nights but i also know that these tents turned into ghost towns that probably made LN think...why we spending money here?

Bob Moses had to be the least attended late night show ever...I think there were less than 75 people there. If everyone had moved to the front I don't think the crowd would have even been 3-deep from the stage.
I felt really badly for them, but they still put on a great show.

Was there and loved that show. I ran into a couple people I shared smokes with at LCD (also criminally under-attended) and just had a blast. That's gotta be my favorite Roo Friday.
This is my favorite Late night lineup since I've been going. Chromeo/Superjam and Bon Iver set 2 is a dream come true. I will likely head to camp after the first late night shows, but I appreciate that they have Virtual Self/Kaskade and Kalliope for those who don't sleep.

I just wish they had scheduled Bob Moses 2:00 - 3:00 because when Tame ended early I would've headed straight there.

The second set? From the What podcast Ashley Capps made it sound like it'd be a completely unique show.
I have no idea. He apparently said something at a show
What he (I.e., Justin Vernon) said was that one set would be 22AM in full and the other would be ‘full of surprises’. AC, by contrast, said one would be a ‘normal BI set’ whereas the other would be a surprise. Based on the most recent tour, 22AM in full pretty much equates to a normal BI set (with a few other songs sprinkled in + an encore). So, they pretty much said the same thing.
So, basically ...
Set 1 = Normal Bon Iver set (which will pretty much be 22AM + maybe a few extra songs from older albums)
Set 2 = Surprise
FWIW, there’s a LOT of potential for guests at that surprise set. Sylvan Esso, Mavis Staples, & Moses Sumney (just for starters) all have some kind of history of collaborating with Justin Vernon in some capacity.

What if they gave us a little surprise and Bon Iver (Set 1) occurred on the Which during Eminem?
I’d be 100% down with that. Wouldn’t sound bleed become an issue though?
I don't think it would be. The Which and What Stage used to have acts going on at the same time pretty regularly. Didn't seem like the layout of those stages changed last year either.

I was at the Skrillex Superjam rather than Nick Cave or Frank Ocean. I liked the show but in hindsight it was the wrong choice.
Not for me, that superjam was killer! Mystical for "Shake ya Ass", Warpaint for Technotronic pump pump the jam, lauren Hill for Ready or Not, someone did Bowie's Lets dance, Cage came out for The Doors for “Break on Through". I had to sit down after that set....

I had the most painful walk back to camp after that set.

They just posted a mock up of what the VIP barn will look like on FB. Obviously its hard to judge scale from a picture, but it looks to be at least 3x bigger than the xmas barn...kind of looks like a riverboat from the side.
