I think Father John Misty and festivals last year overestimated his rise from the new album. I'm glad I caught his show with the big band at Coachella last year, he's back to playing with a 4-piece now.
With FYF cancelled, I'm now considering this. For those who've attended, any pros/cons? How is the secondary market for this?
Any tips would be appreciated!
I went to a single day last year, so pretty limited experience. As far as secondary market prices, I feel like 3-day prices went pretty low below face until it sold out, then went down again a couple of weeks before the festival. I don't think single day tickets wen't much below face.
Pros: - Location. The park where it's located is great, the stages aren't too far apart from each other, the main stage field is massive. - Food/Drink. So much variety and everything I tried was so good. Best of any festival I've attended easily. - The weather is super mild. It was cloudy and in the 70s/60s, so you can watch shows all day and not be totally drained at the end of the day. - There were more older people than most festivals I've attended. The crowd is generally cool and pretty chill. - Random programming to keep things interesting. They have a stage where they combine music with food, artists will perform and chefs will make food and give it to the crowd. Big Freedia throwing beignets at the crowd while twerking on the Ranger Dave mascot was a highlight. They have an indoor Heineken stage that reminded me a bit of the Yuma at Coachella (never been to the actual Heineken House at Coachella, it might be the exact thing). They had a fancy cocktail bar where magicians would do tricks for you. You get the idea: it's not just stages with music playing and nothing else going on.
Cons: - It's an expensive festival in an expensive city. - It ends at 11pm. This stinks because the park looks pretty cool at night.
