Y'all should have raised these concerns before cdevaney posted the thread, imo. If you want to talk about sucking the fun out of something, y'all are complaining about the rules before we even start.
I'm not complaining about anything. We're having this discussion now so that we don't lose weeks during the draft itself.
The fact that cdevaney posted the thread and written those rules doesn't automatically mean that I should accept them no matter what. I think this is a good thread and time about raising some concerns about them. And I'm expressing my opinion on one of the rules. Why should that be a problem?
See, it's already getting less fun.

Cdevaney gave us all the opportunity to address and debate the rules in the old thread last week.
We'll get this rolling as soon as the Celebrity Reality Show Draft finishes drafting. Or at least as soon as the last person drafts. There are a bunch of people that have "passed" their turn and we're not waiting for them.
Anybody have any questions/concerns in the meantime?
And I am expressing my concerns/questions. I don't see any issues here.

Fair enough. I guess where I take issue is that you threw some shade on previous participants for arguing over everything and supposedly making things less fun, when you're doing basically the same thing almost as soon as the thread was posted and we had an avenue for this discussion already.
i think the point of having exclusives within a certain window is that if this happens more times (im amazed there was this much yearning for a second), it's not the same order/acts every time. 3 years might be too much time tbh, if they didn't play last year, this year, or have shows for '19 they should probably be off the table.
i felt like this was a thing last year, people stretch the guidelines to get some out of left field booking, when there are plenty of other good, clearly available acts.
And I am expressing my concerns/questions. I don't see any issues here.

I see your point. I may have sounded like you have described, but I just stated my observation regarding the previous year, that's it. No blaming intended for any specific participants.
I know it's not an excuse, but I was very busy last week and didn't have a chance to participate in that discussion. Given cdevaney asked if there are any other concerns/questions, I tried to express them now that I have some free time today. Before we start the drafting.
If everyone's thinking it's too late to propose any change in the rules, I'm fine with it.

It's fine to talk about, as long as we're waiting on the celeb draft to wrap up. Sorry for getting combative. This is gonna be a super chill draft. Super chill.
I think it would be kinda fun if previous drafters couldn't pick anything they picked last draft. I'm not advocating that we actually do that. I just think that would mix things up a little.

I'll be generous and let someone else pick Widespread Panic regardless of the rule.
also can we change the "Previously ruled inelligable" acts to just all inelligable acts and have it fully updated with Tribe, Moderat, ect by the time we start this thing.
I'll update the title.
Moderate, Black Sabbath and A Tribe Called Quest were already added.
Well, I find the "not-picking-anyone-that-hasn't-played-three-years-etc" rule a bit nonsense. And here is my reasoning.
Don't we, as the bookers of this festival, have an infinite amount of budget for booking whichever act we want? Also, don't we assume that our booking team has excellent capabilities of convincing acts that are on hiatus or not touring for a while to play our festival?
So, if the answer to the both questions are yes, why shouldn't we able to pick any acts then? Does this draft have to be this serious? Isn't the reason we're doing this is to have fun, and fantasize about an ideal festival?
Of course, some acts (The Smiths and Talking Heads are the first two examples that I can think of right now) should not be eligible as they said they have no interest in uniting regardless of the money. A referee can decide about this after doing some research whenever someone has picked a "controversial" act.
Having said that, spending enough money from your budget, you should be able to convince and book Moderat, Sade, Darkside, or etc. even though they said they are on hiatus or not touring for a while. Let people pick these acts as it's gonna be a more fun draft.
I am serious about this proposal. Let me know what y'all think.
It would be funny to take Portishead off the table when the winning line-up had Portishead on it not all that long ago.
You say that "of course" some acts should not be eligible but we kept that open to interpretation last time and it regularly became a shitshow. So there are definitive criteria.
And there is no ref. Disputes are handled via poll only.
3 years is fine. keeps it balanced and somewhat realistic. we should have a specific date though. Should we just say they have to of played by Jan 1 2015?
not sure if my question is cheating or using Portishead in the game is cheating?
Congratulations on getting a response without getting your question answered.
I'm actually looking forward to this quite a bit. Gonna be fun watching from the outside. I do wonder how much Portishead mattered. I really dug the undercard more than my headliners (outside Portishead) to be honest, although it does look better now that Petty has passed.
I think Rage Against The Machine should be on that ineligible list, because most of it's members are already playing as Prophets of Rage..? Also if you book The xx for example, then you are the only one who can book Jamie xx aswell, right or no?
I think the rules are fine. I’m all for being more strict on eligible acts because it encourages more trades.
You've got that lucky 19th pick. I'll be rooting for ya. Rules are fine, especially with the no rules one coming later. That should really take care of most of the ridiculousness. Also is your name dan or bob?

Yeah I’m excited for the 19th pick because I get to pick two acts in short succession. Hope my lineup will please you. My name is dan

The man has spoken. I'll shut up about it until next year.
I may be open to doing a wide-open one with no restrictions next year!
i'd be down as well if we could really make clear whats available and whats not? would obviously unrealistic stuff like Oasis, Floyd Reunion, Zeppelin Reunion, ect be in play? I personally would be down as fuck.

Nah. We'll call it the "Rules? Where We're Going We Don't NEED Rules" edition.
