If anyone is struggling to think of a cool novelty set, I have a pretty odd/dope idea and the artist wasn't even drafted last year. I assume it's in bad spirit to help from the outside? I gotta join this thing next year.
I’ve been helping Jack brainstorm acts, priorize they, and then objectively look at his line up and see what it’s lacking. In the end it’s his choice what he wants to do, and he usually doesn’t take my advice (examples being JT, The Stone Roses, and Lauryn Hill), but sometimes he does and I still help him. Maybe next year I’ll do it and he’ll help me. Because we like to talk about it a lot and so there would be no way for us both to play.
Point is I don’t think it’s bad spirited to take outside help. Esp from Inforooera who are not playing, but know the musical tastes of the board.
Thanks to Dave Maynar, I learned that sang_xcx and I have similar tastes, so I have been employing his help. Also because I have never done drafts before and I sometimes don't understand or get confused. But, on that note, I don't think that just posting acts that haven't been picked yet should just be suggested by those not playing all open in the thread. I don't see anything wrong with PM'ing someone asking advice, especially if they have played in the past and aren't currently playing.

I don't think that they should be posted by anyone if they haven't been picked. It's just kind of bad form, IMO.

Agreed. I sort of thought the people that were playing not posting it was implied and I guess I was sort of replying to a previous comments without directly replying.

Oh, I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was just mentioning the other thing, too. Most people don't but every now and then I see it and have been relieved that it hasn't been somebody that I was planning to draft.

It's for sure implied and anyone who does it is probably just trying to be an ass.
Ok. I am dumb, and I re-read the rules. WTF is the trade block?
It's where you can advertise any acts from your lineup that you are open to trading. You don't have to list anybody and you obviously don't need to follow through on trade inquiries but in the last draft some people found it a helpful way to enhance their lineups. It's at the bottom of the OP.

I saw it and I saw people mention it but I didn't really understand it.
Honestly, I wish I would have known that sooner. Maybe you should add an explanation in the rules next draft? Because I don't do drafts, didn't read the last one y'all did and had no fucking idea.
BREAKING: I plan to keep all my picks, because I picked things that are dope and see no reason to give them to anyone else.
Congratulations, you have some idea of what you're doing. So do I. Want a gold star?
I'd love a gold star. Thanks.
Don't take it the wrong way. I have been engaged in trade talks and I don't mean to shut any of that shit down. I'm always down to improve my lineup. I'm just talking shit, as usual.
Especially considering we're now being told not to expect a pick for some time.
