I posted the question base on objections raised before the previous post about his show at III Points. He also just had a single come out in advance of a new album so that should make him active.
That said, we voted down @katyown's pick based on just one show as they weren't considered active. The upcoming project would seem to satisfy that, though.
If someone wanted to challenge it it wouldn't be entirely surprising.
mmmm, idk, dead weather were shot down despite doing promo shows for a new album, don't see how releasing a single is considered more active than doing one off shows.
Well, their promotion was on talk shows. It's not like they went on tour or anything. And the single is the first off of an album due out March 30.
I didn't think to question it because he was selected last year. Should I drop a poll?
Let's put up a poll for a poll.
In all seriousness, that one III points show doesn't seem any different to me than middle brother being voted down. I don't see how this is an issue, based on what we just saw happen this should be an easy no.
Middle Brother is a project from multiple musicians busy with other projects at the moment. They have other things to perform as. MF DOOM is really the only name he performs under and is busy working on that project. That’s why it’s different.

Ghostface + MF Doom is a project from multiple musicians one of which has been drafted and the other hasn't played a solo show in the time frame.

The National is in the midst of a tour but Planetarium got in.

but they’re both performing their own solo music unlike TDW or something.

and I voted yes for both Middle Brother and Planetarium, I’m just noting the difference between them and DOOM.

It's a collaboration between solo artists. That's like saying that Billy Joel isn't active because he only performed a show with Elton John, who was already selected.

no because they both did a full tour together. and theyve both done shows/announced tours within the deadlines as solos.
I'm challenging The Spice Girls. I don't think it's a 100% thing.
1) Only "active" or potentially active acts can be drafted. If you're planning on booking a reunion, you need to demonstrate that there is a reasonable reason to believe that it could happen. (This rules out Talking Heads, for example.) An artist is considered "active" if they have had or will have public performances between 1/1/15 and 12/31/19. (This eliminates things like Rock and Roll Hall of fame performances, one-offs for benefits, awards show reunions, etc.) An artist would be considered inactive if they don't meet the live performance requirements or if there is credible documentation that an act has broken up, has no plans of touring, are focusing on other projects, does not play in this country, etc.
The iconic pop group recently confirmed that “the time feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together”. The rumour mill has been in overdrive for years, but recent weeks have seen world tours speculated and subsequently denied, with the prospect of some one-off shows now seeming more likely.
A source previously revealed that the Spice Girls are planning to perform live in a series of stand-alone shows. The insider shared: “Given the family situations, committing to a gruelling mega world tour was always a tough ask. When they got back together this month to discuss reforming, a mammoth tour was dismissed by the majority. But performing together again certainly wasn’t, so the idea of playing a few huge shows in various cities was one that received the most interest.
I can post a poll on this but it seems like Jaz has demonstrated that there is reasonable reason to believe that it could happen.

Right. Mine was a simile to show that DOOM & Ghostface was similar to Joel & John in that they're solo artists performing together.
