The Dead Weather has not played together since 2010 with the exception of a performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2015. They did release an album in 2015.
1) Only "active" or potentially active acts can be drafted. If you're planning on booking a reunion, you need to demonstrate that there is a reasonable reason to believe that it could happen. (This rules out Talking Heads, for example.) An artist is considered "active" if they have had or will have public performances between 1/1/15 and 12/31/19. (This eliminates things like Rock and Roll Hall of fame performances, one-offs for benefits, awards show reunions, etc.) An artist would be considered inactive if they don't meet the live performance requirements or if there is credible documentation that an act has broken up, has no plans of touring, are focusing on other projects, does not play in this country, etc.

They were promoting a new album on late night shows and other media. That's distinct to me from the three examples that you listed there, but I can see what you're saying.

Yeah, I don't know that you could consider them public performances. I get why you'd put it to a vote just to be sure. Hopefully it will set a precedent for similar scenarios in the future one way or the other.
I should add that I did find this in researching the possibility of future shows. It mentions that they are all focused on other projects right now.

I'm sorry, is playing a show in Alison Mosshart's house and cooking for Anthony Bourdain as branded-content, promoting Chevrolet and a Nashville restaurant group, not "public" enough for you, cdev?
Just want to say thank you to whoever for polling before picking.
I honestly didn't expect there to be any argument against Planetarium being eligible. And since the draft is continuing anyway I don't know why it matters.
Isn't this the exact same thing as Yeah Yeah Yeahs last time which was voted no?
Not exactly. YYYs last album was released in 2013, outside the window of eligibility. The Dead Weather were promoting an album in 2015, which is less than three years ago.

I just meant hadn't the Yyys played like one show in someone's basement? I don't really remember exactly but they weren't allowed.

They did one song on TV solely for promotional purposes. It isn't the same as planning a full live show and then going on tour, especially at the same time as QotSA, Jack White and The Kills are all on tour.
In fact doing the poll first is worse since the whole draft is paused now, just saying.
Eh I'm fine with that; I'm in no rush. I prefer it to someone being picked and then there being reactionary blowback and then someone potentially having to repick. Less dramz this way.

in fine with it too. It's a smart play. I'm just saying the only one that will potentially have a negative effect in my case is me

I might as well wait. I'm sorry, y'all. I know this is annoying. I'd just be kind of pissed if I went ahead and picked something else and this went through.
FWIW, I don't expect it to and I've been listening to Metallica all day.
