I'm seeing LCD this Saturday after catching them in Terminal 5 last Wednesday. For all the crap people talked about T5 it was perfectly fine. I was early and got a nice spot at the front. People around me got grumbly near the end of the show cause lots of drunk couples started pushing to the front, but otherwise sound was good and I was surrounded by dancers.
I am ridiculously excited for this Saturday night at Knockdown and the afterparties. I can't go too hard because I have a performance Sunday Night, but Nations of Language opening, and shitrobot/dave p/dj holographic all DJing aftewards??? I only need Yeah and my life will be made.

Terminal 5 is OK if you get there early and get near the front, as you did. I was able to do the same thing last Thursday since my wife decided to stay home, and I was about two rows of people away from the rail right in front of Nancy, and had a blast. I had a little room to dance, never felt cramped, and was surrounded by die-hards who brought good vibes.
This is a direct contrast to my experience at M83 this year, when my wife and I got there a little bit on the later side due to babysitter issues. We ended up squeezed onto a ledge near the back bar from which we could juuuust see the stage and had to basically fight to maintain that position for a couple hours. Still a great show, but far from comfortable. Someone on reddit said this, and I think it's true: The venue's stated capacity is 3,000, but only a portion of that number are going to have sight lines to the stage. It'd be like if MSG included the concessions concourses in its capacity.
ANYHOO. I will also be there Saturday night, along with a group of 12 or so friends, which is nuts, because most of the time I can't even manage to get two people together to do anything. But it should be a good time. I also can't go hard, and it's kind of bumming me out - the medication I'm taking for insomnia puts a strict limit on ingestion of any other substances. But I plan to dance my ass off and check out the afterparty, for sure.

Oh wow. 3k capacity for that space is crazy!! Sounds like a nightmare.
And yeah I'll probably have to stick to an edible and leave it at that. Main thing for me will be not singing along so as to not blow my voice out(which I worry will be harder than it sounds haha). Can't wait to share the dance floor with you and your crew!

I think that might have been me who said that on Reddit haha, but yes, remains true. 3000 people can fit into the building, probably 1800 can decently see the stage. Anyways, I'll be at the final night of LCD. I wish Knockdown Center was more accessible via public transportation but so be it.
Part of that capacity is for the balconies, but basically only the first row of the balcony can see the stage. So most of that capacity ends up on the floor with everyone else, making it an epic clusterfuck.
Was at the FUV Holiday show last night and, for the second year in a row, the demo is really odd. The average age is like 50's-60's which is not inherently a problem but it seems like majority of the crowd don't know who is playing and just sit the entire show. Super awkward with The Gaslight Anthem and Grace Potter killing it yet having to coax people to stand up.

Don’t want to kill anyone’s vibe but watch the socials if you’re heading to New York for LCD this weekend.
They had to cancel the show at the 2nd encore break because a band member passed out and was sent to the hospital during the encore. Someone is apparently playing pretty sick. Great show tonight until the ending. Hope whoever it is feels better soon.

Saw this on the subreddit. I’m supposed to be heading up in a few hours so I’m hoping we get some word either way. If they’ve made no announcement by now Ill assume show is on? Regardless hoping it’s nothing too serious!

Yeah, I think no news is good news at this point. Fingers crossed.

Will have more thoughts later, but incredible show. The energy was amazing in there. Loved dancing after too.
Nation of Language is a good opener but I think they would really benefit from having a drummer. The programmed drums are fine but they can only do so much.
It makes me sad that LCD Soundsystem season is over.
likewise, it's my favorite holiday tradition around here. really hope they keep knockdown on the list, that was a great venue for them and the afterparty was a fun time too

LCD were great last night, enjoyed hearing a few songs that I hadn't heard live before. Again, I have to repeat, that wall that blocks off a portion of the floor by the sound board is REALLY inconvenient. I was up front all night but went to grab my coat during the last song and the viewing angles behind the sound board are terrible.

This is the third time I've seen a staged show (vs. a DJ dance party) at Knockdown. Pros: Big room, good sound (much better with the improvements they made than the last time I was there). Con: Hot as all fuck. I was right next to the sound booth on Saturday night and was already dripping sweat during the third song. Absolutely soaked by the time I finished my last pogo at the end of "All My Friends."
Saw three shows on this run, one in each boro. Would definitely rank the venues BK Steel > Knockdown > T5, just based on the room, but in terms of show experience, I'd almost say Terminal 5 was, shockingly, my favorite. I got there crazy early, so ended up just a couple people back from the rail directly in front of Nancy. I danced like a maniac and ended up hugging total strangers at the end of the night. I still think that venue sucks, overall, but the experience was definitely improved by being able to be where I was. Plus, that was the day Shane McGowan died, so they did the "Fairytale of New York" interlude (I heard they repeated it last night).
I absolutely loved Knockdown for the after party situation, though. Being able to stay, dance, and keep the vibes going instead of being herded promptly out of the room was great.
In conclusion, they need to bring Despacio back to KDC.

Yeah the afterparty at KDC was awesome, so much room to dance and everyone was dancing and smile so was awesome to just look around and take it all in. Also enjoyed getting wine from The Four Horsemen and checking out the little DJ set back there. Wish I would have went Saturday so I could have stayed later.

Explain (I'm a fan but I totally understand people that don't vibe with them). To me, it feels like they're really close to being a great band but something just feels manufactured about them (and they need a drummer!). I'm also in love with Aidan Noell which might impact my fandom.

Belated but, yeah, was hot on Sun. I was up front and security handed out a bunch of water bottles. I think it was probably due to the heat being set for Dec yet the temperature was fairly warm (even though it was raining). I bounced during "New York I Love You" to get a cab thinking "All My Friends" was next which I've heard a million times so didn't mind missing. Didn't realize they were gonna do "Dance Yrself Clean" as well.
Social Distortion/Bad Religion at Pier 17 on 5/4. Same day as Primus/Puscifer/A Perfect Circle at Forest Hills. Super ambitious having outdoor shows in early May these days.
