I think I'm still coming down from Saturday night. Holy shit.
How did that McIntosh sound?
Immaculate. This is the second experience I've had with Despacio, and the sound has been amazing both times. The fact that it's full enough that you can feel it in your body, but somehow still have a conversation on the dance floor without shouting...it's just so good.

Not sure WTF Live Nation was thinking with this Bush/STP/The Cult tour playing Jones Beach/PNC in this area. Also, the bands are apparently rotating who closes which means if The Cult goes on last, they'll be playing to an empty shed.

Live Nation has been making some weird decisions with their Sheds this summer. Theyve got Counting Crows and Live playing PNC and Jones beach too. That show is gonna be 2/3rds filled at the very very most

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Counting Crows, although I'm probably not shelling out for this tour. I guess it depends on the set - I maintain that their first two records are pretty great, so if they were leaning into that, it might be worth it.

Those shows can still be profitable as long as the concession sales are up. Which seems likely, given the nostalgia-cred and people just wanting to drink beer.

Live, on the other hand...
The couple times I've seen Counting Crows they've played a good handful off those first two records. Been a couple years, but I wouldn't think that's changed much.

Funny enough, Counting Crows and Live did a co-headlining tour in 2000 when they were both coming down from their mid-90's peak. I don't think people realize how absurdly big Live was in the mid 90's. Throwing Copper sold something like 8 million copies and even when the follow up to that, Secret Samadhi, shit the bed sales-wise in '97 they still headlined TWO shows at Jones Beach that summer. Counting Crows have been able to maintain their draw over the years much more so than many of the crunch alt-rock of that period.

I can tell you that I 100% didnt know how big Live was in the 90s
Anyone else notice the amount of shows being booked at Terminal 5 has dropped way off due to AEG aggressively pushing Brooklyn Steel? Not a bad thing by any means given how much T5 sucks but will be a pain in the ass when the L closes next year.

Yeah, what the hell are you guys supposed to do when the L shuts?

There was an interesting article about this in the Times yesterday. The bus plan they have is pretty intense. But, yeah, it's going to make getting out to what's become my favorite venue in the city a bit of a challenge, to say the least.
