Fins up.
Still not making the playoffs though.
I take that back. Go make the 6th seed and freeze in Foxboro in the first round.
This season has been the same as any Dolphins season my whole life. We need a win and two other teams to lose in Week 17 to sneak in to the sixth seed. Then we lose to the Bills. Games like today are the small joys I’m happy to settle with.
Bears playing some decent ball tonight so far. I have mixed feelings on the game. If the Rams won, Saints are one game away from clinching a bye. If the Bears won, we have some misplaced hope of being the #1 again.
Rams, Chiefs, Saints and Pats all look beatable these past few weeks. Wouldn’t have said that a month ago. I love it honestly. There’s about 8 teams that have a reasonable shot at the Super Bowl. That parity the biggest thing the NFL has over the NBA right now from a fan’s perspective.

I was right there with you on this one. But in the end, I am glad that the Bears got the W and put the Saints back in first place. The Panthers have struggled mightily the past five games, and two of the final three games are at home. I think the Saints have a real shot at finishing 14-2, and Dome field advantage will be crutial for a Super Bowl run. Plus, we're still two games up on the Bears. They would own the tie breaker on us if we both finish with the same records, but it would pretty wild for the Saints to lose two of the next three and Bears to win out.
I like being in the one spot, but back in September or October when I asked what it was going to take to win the NFC this year - it looks like it's going to be 14-2 or 13-3 at worst. Rams have a vag schedule after the Eagles. Assuming the Eagles aren't crestfallen after their OT loss to Dallas, and assuming the Rams aren't out for blood after the loss last night, that's really the only obstacle to the Rams running the table. True, you never know with division games, but Arizona and San Francisco suck this year to the point of being two of the worst teams in the league. OTOH, we have the Panthers for our third road game in a row, Steelers and Panthers at home. Panthers do suck recently, but tend to play us tough most of the time. Magic number for a bye is 2 for us (any combination of Saints wins and Bears losses). Bears can only get to 12-4, and they play the Packers, 49ers and Vikings. The 49ers should be a gimme game for the Bears, and then Packers and Vikings obviously are divisional opponents.
It was always going to be tough for us to end up as the #1, but if we do, we certainly did it by beating the best teams. If we end up winning the conference, we would still have to potentially go through a couple of the better teams we haven't played this season - Seattle and Chicago. Ideally, we get a rematch with the Cowboys which we 95% would beat at home in the playoffs.

I don't play fantasy football, but I am mightily enjoying one coworker trashing another today because he forgot to set his fantasy lineup and started Chubb, Gore and Funchess (flex) over Derrick Henry.
Would anyone have had a problem with Leonard Fournette beating up the Tennessee Titans fan he alleged used racial slurs against him? I think you maybe could be punched for that. I don't think just saying a word is punch-worthy per se'. But any racial slang word used in a derogatory term against an individual could be met with a knuckle sandwich and I'd probably be okay with it. I don't condone violence, but it's not that much worse than inciting it.

Don't know too much about this but based on what I have seen I'd say that Fournette hasn't shown great judgement in recent weeks. I'd argue that it would have been better for him to just get security involved rather than getting baited into another suspension.
Obviously Fournette is somewhat of a loose cannon(c). Yeldon said he heard it too. He noted that it’s unfortunate in 2018, but it happens from time to time to NFL players. I know people sometimes get drunk and do or say stupid shit they later regret. But you don’t call a black guy an N word because they are on the opposing team. Shit like 85% of your team is probably black too. Would you call them or anyone on the street that? I’m believing Fournette on this one seeing as the team refused discipline. I still think I’d have been okay with him clocking that dude like he was Richard Spencer.
Obviously that's never okay and I don't blame him for wanting to clock the guy.
I just think that if he lets himself get baited by drunken racists then he may find it happening at more and more games, especially if the league suspends him for going after fans. It's not right and I don't know how successful I'd be in ignoring it myself were I in his shoes.
More speaking in the abstract I guess. As a white guy I'm not really sure that my opinion is relevant in this situation.

Asked our director of PR about it, hoping to gain some interesting insight. He basically gave me what you would expect Jaguars PR to say on the topic (not that I think he is lying).
"The fans were yelling the slurs (he's on the sideline with them). Sadly, this happens more often than you would think. We need our guys to ignore it and channel their energy on the field."
Edit: They were calling him coon and other slurs, but not the N word. Think that's what Fournette said anyways, but I saw you guys mentioning the N word above.

Yeah. I mean it's the same thing to me. It's not the same word, but that's another ridiculous southern term. They do need to channel energy to the field, but fans could call him an a-hole, mf, p.o.s. or literally any cuss word - which I'm sure they hear 50x more than racial terms anyway. But using racial slurs is b.s. I hope they find that fan or fans and anti-bleach their skin.
Fairly big game tonight when the Chargers visit the Chiefs. If the Chargers win, they will be tied with the Chiefs for 1st in the AFC West though the Chiefs hold the tiebreaker due to a better divisional record. Chargers are currently 2-2 in the AFC West with tonight's game as well as a Week #17 game vs. the Broncos in Denver. The best they can do is 4-2. Between the two divisional games, they host a tough Ravens team who could be fighting for their playoff lives. So it's a tough road to hoe. The Chiefs divisional record is 4-0 (again vs. the 2-2 LA Chargers) with tonight's game and then a week #17 divisional game at home vs. the Raiders. Sandwiched between those games is a Sunday night trip to Seattle to face an improving Seahawks team who is always tough to beat there. I don't really think the Seahawks will have much at stake in that game since their other remaining games are vs. San Francisco and Arizona. Yeah, both are divisional games, but we all know both of those teams suck this year. Seattle looks like a shoe-in to be the #5 seed in the NFC.
Yeah. Coach Lynn nutted up and went for that 2. When it works, and it did, that’s playing to win. I’d have kicked the FG regardless and taken my chances with the coin flip.

I love going for 2 in that situation on the road. It's similar to when a NBA team is down two with a buzzer beater opportunity and they go for 3 when they are away.

Brees had better pull some stat heavy wins out of his ass the next three weeks if he wants to finally win that MVP award. Even I might give it to Mahomes right now
