They both suck and helped put daggers in us. Bountygate was right when the ex-players were suing on the head trauma stuff. While the NFL was still pretty much denying CTE and all at the time, they needed to show they were 'serious'. I guess we gave them that opportunity. The penalties were brutal as compared to other recent examples of cheating or major violations of league rules.
This year's no-call may have been more consequential for our franchise simply because making that call (or at least the helmet to helmet shot) likely moves us into the super bowl. You never bet against the Patriots in a major game. But I think we would have been able to give them all they could have handled.
Then we have our no-one-to-blame-but-ourselves losses to Minnesota last year and then San Francisco 49ers a few years back. Those were our real opportunities to get additional Lombardi's. We likely win at least 1 of them if any of those 4 events go differently. If we had won 2 or 3 more, obviously the conversation on the Patriots dynasty changes as well as who the greatest all time quarterback is becomes a legitimate open question between Brady and Brees. Brady has the championships, Brees has the records. But if Brees had a similar number of championships (or had faced and defeated Brady any of the possible 3 times we could have faced him), obviously the title of GOAT is completely in dispute and probably leans toward Brees.

I don't disagree, and the no-call certainly sucked, especially because of the timing, but it's still just a bad call (a horrendous call) in a game whose officiating is getting worse and worse. They had to know this was going to happen.
The Bountygate stuff (and Deflategate for that matter) is so much worse to me because it was the League actively seeking to alter competitive balance in the league. That's systemic stuff. A bad call happens. The NFL had to choose to penalize teams the way they did - suspensions, picks, etc - in the 'gates.
Seattle destroying Denver was a different kind of boring.
Yeah was thinking I might prefer that game and Bucs Raiders since there was at least some action and the Bucs / Seahawks were super entertaining teams.
Idk man. Just a couple plays into that Denver-Seattle game I was thinking "if the refs are gonna let the Seahawks DBs play this way, this is no-contest".
At least the game last night had some drama late and a couple exciting plays that determined the outcome. Denver-Seattle was hardly even a match.
Not that any number of wrongs make anything right, but I'll just leave this revelation about the Minnesota Vikings' bounty program here for Justin and black bush to enjoy.

An NFL team decided that trying to end someones career and make sure the rest of their life requires around the clock assistance is the way to play, classic!
You seem like an ok dude, but FUCK THE SAINTS! FUCK SEAN PAYTON for trying to cover up their bullshit!
Robert Kraft is being charged with soliciting prostitution
I just came here to post about that. Initial reaction was pats hating humor until I read the article about how it's connected to human trafficking and it became decidedly unfunny

Do you (or anyone) have any good articles on it? I was nervous to start reading articles because I wasn't sure how much was speculation and how much was fit. Such a shame if it really is tied to such scummy activity. At least someone from the Pats actually gave people a good reason to hate him instead of hating just because they're jealous

He visited a happy endings massage parlor that was already under investigation. He got a handjob from presumably someone that was trafficked as that is usually the person that will do that.

That's the one I read. The human trafficking portion was from the police department so it's pretty official.
Edit: to be clear, he's not accused of being directly involved with the trafficking.
The big thing for me is whether or not he knew the people were being trafficked. If you’re knowingly funding human trafficking, then you should go to jail. Otherwise, I don’t really care.
If he really wanted to get a prostitute, he's got the means to get to Nevada where it's legal and regulated. It's disappointing that he's hanging around some sketchy massage parlor.
There's a rumor saying he's not even the most high profile name on the list of those involved, which is interesting if true.
Kraft can afford the most high end prosts out there and yet he decides to go to a shitty strip mall to get a hj from an illegal sex worker. Either he was in on it or not but he’s definitely a fucking weirdo creep.

Read in a Deadspin article that Kraft's offense is non-extraditable, so as long as he doesn't go to Florida, he won't have to do any time, regardless of his sentencing.
