I am short on funding at the moment, so i am gonna pass on ACL this year. It doesn really compare to last years lineup at all. Funfunfunfest looks rather promising though.

this could be fun, after munching some corn it could be even more fun...so, is there a get together planned for thursday night, or should we get a bottle or two and have some fun at hippies
ACL board peeps are meeting at Wahoo's on Thursday, 5ish, then over to Mother Egan's, then possibly Ego's. Y'all are all welcome to join, they're a good bunch...think we had about 35 or so last year.
A question for you Austin peeps or people that know the area well: I was reading an Austin Guide Book and say a little ad for The Alamo Draft House. Has anyone been to it and would you recommend going there. I normally wouldn't think about going to see a movie, but its deffiently not your typical movie experience, which is getting my attention.
i would say if there is something playing you really want to see and you have sufficiant time to "waste" on a movie (this is coming from someone who sees at least one movie in theatres a week), then i would say its cool. some people might just boil it down to a movie with waiters and beer, so its kinda up to you.

Alamo Drafthouse is a MUST. The only problem you're going to run into is the timing of ACL and Fantastic Fest this year. Fantastic Fest is literally ending the day before ACL, so a lot of the stuff going on Drafthouse related might be hard going getting into.
Here's the website where you can find info on the regular drafthouse stuff: www.originalalamo.com
I suggest checking out the Ritz if you visit Sixth Street, but if you need a theatre within a relatively short distance of the festival, the one on South Lamar is probably a mile south of Barton Springs and Lamar (the roads leading out of the fest).
we have a drafthouse here in san antonio, and i personally did not like it...the fact that drinking a beer at a movie theater is a plus, but when i go to a movie i do not care for people walking in front of me, people wispering orders, etc...the palladium theater here is nice, with a full bar upstairs, so you can have your drink and not have to worry about missing quotes due to someone's order being wrong
nah....when rita came it was unfortunately the same weekend as ACL, so we had to leave....it only took us 8 hours instead of 13 like other people cause we took a bunch of farm roads

they're estimating that 24k people stayed on galveston island. i'm afraid this might not end well. the weather channel is reporting that there will be no more rescues until the worst of the storm has passed.
Just a reminder for anyone who's interested...ACL board peeps meeting 4:30/5:00 at Wahoo's on Thursday, followed by Mother Egan's and then Ego's. I'll PM my cell if you care to catch up. Who's doing the Band of Horses and or Black Angels/Black Keys' aftershows on Saturday and Sunday?
