I love when people sitting at home watching a music festival on their computer on a Friday night talk shit about how lame the people actually attending are.
Couple factors that I think people discount...
- There's very few lights, totems, glow toys in the crowd which makes the crowd very dark on tv and tough to make out.
- It looked to be really hot today so the day crowds might have been subdued
- crowds at the Sahara have been going hard all night so def not an energy prob there
Moses Sumney (5/10) Vince Staples (6/10) Black Coffee (5/10)
Wtf sang
I love Moses album but he was way off live. I think he was just overdoing it. Singing way too high. It didn't sound good at all. I enjoyed Vince, but I was not a big fan going into it.

It sounded horrible. He does have a good voice so I don't wanna act like the dude completely stinks, but he never clicked for me and that performance did nothing to change that.
I get home at 3pm CST from work and I'm hoping to walk into some decent replays before the Saturday schedule gets going. Didn't make it up for JMJ or Jamiroquai.

Read about the singer of Greta Van Fleet that he sounds like he got an English accent or something, just watching their interview and it's so weird when you hear him and then his brothers sitting next to him talking lol. Why does he have that accent??
edit: Watching JMJ rn, those visuals are brilliant wtf

He's keeping up the act. It's actually a horrible brittish accent. But somehow he still manages to make you think of Robert Plant.
Finally getting a chance to see Troyboi which is pretty much outclassing a lot of the weaker and pop EDM shows they showed yesterday. No surprise. He’s not my favorite but compared to Alan Walker and the dude with the mask and Deorro, it’s night and day. I saw him when he was breaking out and always thought he was fun.

JMJ is in now. Get on it.
Watching on my phone right now. This laser harp shit is wild. Loving it.

Add me to the chorus of live Moses Sumney defenders.
Also Jamiroquai just started back up on the replay. Jay may have lost a step since their prime, but DAMN does the band sound incredible. A US tour is a need and not a want at this point
All the crowds I was in yesterday were good. People were really into Avalon Emerson, Detroit Love, Black Coffee and Maceo Plex.
what was maceo plex's live show like?
All Maceo Plex and Maetrik songs. Production was stellar, blew stuff like Richie Hawtin’s CLOSE out of the water. He also did some cool live vocal work. Highly recommended if you’re a fan.

fuckkk that conflict is so brutal.
what was Detroit Love like, and do you know how long they played?

Detroit Love was also phenomenal. The three DJs would play two or three songs and switch it over to the next DJ. A great mix of disco/soul mixed with banging Detroit techno and house. Heading Moodymann’s “I Can’t Kick This Feeling When It Hits” live was really special.
No idea when they ended, I left shortly before Maceo Plex got on. I wanted to see some of Soulwax, but Detroit Love was way too good to leave.
