I figured I'd kick off discussion of this, if anyone else wants to have it. The National debuted a new song at Homecoming this past weekend. Might we get more new material in September?

Any word on how this has been selling? I'd like to go the first night, but the cost of all these shows has been draining me. Hoping I could snag a below face ticket eventually.

Well, undersold or not, I'm still pretty psyched for this. The only catch is that I can only do one *full* day out there, but it can either be Saturday or Sunday. I haven't yet decided which one I'm going to pick. I'm currently leaning Saturday, mostly for Phoebe Bridgers and Jason Isbell, and because I've seen Future Islands and Bully a couple times in the past year. Missing out on Cat Power would hurt, though.
Thoughts?
Either way, I'm looking forward to two (gorgeous, if the weather forecast is accurate) nights with one of my favorite bands.

Hitting tomorrow's festivities, in a bowl seat due to my still recovering from knee issues. Probably will hit there in time for US Girls, sounds like bowl is undersold so hopefully can stake a claim on an excellent seat.
11/28 Raveonettes (Copenhagen, Denmark) 12/4 Interpol 12/14 LCD Soundsystem 12/31 Billy Joel 1/25 The Killers (Las Vegas) 2/12 Jack White 2/25 Father John Misty 3/6 Inhaler 4/10 Franz Ferdinand 4/17 Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds 5/15 Amyl & the Sniffers 5/18 Fontaines D.C. 9/1 Oasis
Had a really great day yesterday. Filled out pretty gradually throughout the day and only started to really fill in towards the end of Jason Isbell.
Caught the end of Adia Victoria and thought she was solid. Phoebe keeps getting better, especially her vocals. She played Me & My Dog, one of her boygenius songs, and it killed. I'm looking forward to seeing that one played with all three of those women on stage. Had never checked out Cigarettes After Sex and don't plan on it. Easily the worst dud on this lineup and I'm confused as to why The National would book them. Isbell unsurprisingly was fantastic. Wish he was big enough to headline that venue because I think he'd do a damn good job of it
Some friends of mine who had bought floor seats realized they didn't rip their tickets or anything so we were able to get onto the floor for The National no problem. Their set was really great, and I'm curious to see what they play tonight because I'm pretty sure (might be mistaken) that Matt said they wouldn't be repeating any songs, which would mean no full albums.
Weather couldn't have been better yesterday too. Spent some time in Forest Park before walking up to the stadium. Highly recommended.
Girlfriend's working this morning so we're missing Bully, but will be there in time for U.S. Girls. Really excited to see them and Cat Power for the first time. Future Islands are always a blast

Yeah, yesterday was pretty great. It never really felt crowded on the floor until The National’s set, and then only because I was very close to the stage. Perfect weather, and that venue on a nice day/night just kills.
I missed Adia Victoria, but was there for the start of Phoebe Bridgers’ set. She was fantastic, and I only wish she’d gotten longer than 30 minutes. Agreed that the boygenius song was a highlight, and I am now officially very stoked for that show in November.
I liked Cigarettes After Sex more live than I like them on record, but, wow, I have never seen a mellower show in my life. Even the band members looked a little bored, although I guess that’s probably part of their shtick. The most energetic moment came when an older gentleman collapsed about two people in front of me and they had to stop the show while the medics came. He was OK, in the end, but that was a little freaky, especially since that’s the third time this has happened at a show I’ve attended at Forest Hills in the past year. I may be cursed. Anyway, I’d definitely rank this at the bottom of the list, but I still had a decent time, and they pulled a good and interested crowd and covered REO Speedwagon, so points there.
Jason Isbell killed it. I haven’t seen him since he was with the DBTs and it was great seeing him in such good health and spirits. The band was tight as hell, the songs were great (and he opened and closed with my two favorites from his last record, so, score), and he shredded it up on guitar. Just a kick-ass performance.
The National...what can I say? Every show I’ve seen of theirs has been fantastic. I kind of wish they’d turn it up a bit, but I also love being able to hear all the intricate shit they have going on, arrangement-wise. Loved the set selection, kind of teared up during “About Today,” geeked out over “Apartment Story” (the first National song I ever heard), and then sang, danced, and basically made full body contact with Matt Berninger when he was in the crowd during “Conversation 16.” Good times.
I can’t come out for the full day, today - I had to pick one of the two because, you know, adulting - but I’ll be back out there for the National again, tonight. Have a good time, y’all.
Just realized they only did one Boxer song last night. Think it's definitely still possible they play that in full tonight. Also would love to get All the Wine, Graceless, Pink Rabbits, and one of their Dead covers.

Just got home from the show. The last time I saw the National was 4 years ago.....I forgot how damn good they are live. Setlist was great too. Sea of Love, Graceless and Terrible Love all gave me straight chills.
Felt bad about the turnout, though. The floor looked full, the lower bowl looked okay but the upper bowl was a ghost town. Definitely was a reach trying for 2 nights, especially since they just played the venue 12 months ago for the same album cycle. I do hope they bring back this festival next year, but I'd suggest they actually book more local bands. It's weird that for a festival called "There's No Leaving New York," there was only one New York band on the bill.
