With Twenty one Pilots and the 1975 confirmed all we need now is Childish Gambino and they would have recreated the '14 September lineup.
Also, after seeing Death Cab last night and stuff, think they'd come back around? Haven't played BC since '14 and will probably do a fest circuit next spring.
Is there usually a radio show during December? Might give us some info
In Boston, tpycially not unless they announce something soon. Alt 929 and other stations in years past dont do what other places do and get holliday shows

I really hope so, i was at that show too and they were fantastic. He did say theyd be back very soon so hopefully thats true.

Yeah it was my second time seeing them and what a show it was!
Now I'm ALSO thinking, Walk the Moon has a winter tour next year, playing Providence (played Boston this past January) in February. Last year Portugal the Man played Providence in Feb, BC in May. Not saying that that'll happen too but if the first two lines of this lineup are something like
(RAPPER OR LEGEND BAND) • ARCTIC MONKEYS (or other alt/'rock' band) • TWENTY ONE PILOTS (safe choice) DEATH CAB for CUTIE • the 1975 • (EDM) • WALK the MOON
WtM being in the Night Sweats/Portugal the Man slot. Be a few too many repeats in the first two lines all from '14 or '15. And of course billing is a bit off here but you get the idea.
I feel like the only rappers that would #1 at this point are Kanye, Drake, or Jay Z. Wish Outkast would do a one off though, boston was like the one city they skipped on the reunion tour
The Cure/ Kendrick/ 21 Pilots SZA/ The 1975/ Solange/ Death Cab for Cutie
or
Rihanna/ 21 Pilots/ Tame Impala Vampire Weekend/ Iggy Pop/ The 1975/ Anderson .Paak
or
Kanye West/ Nine Inch Nails/ 21 Pilots Lana Del Rey/ The 1975/ My Bloody Valentine/ A$AP Rocky
Im too lazy to look through and figure this out myself, but besides a potential new album (and what I am assuming is just pure desire for an awesome grab) is there any reason to believe that Rihanna will be joining us at BC?

Nah I just love her and would prefer her to lots of other acts.

I'm beginning to feel really pessimistic about the lineup, which will probably feature a top of the poster that looks something like this:
Kanye West * Twenty One Pilots * Travis Scott
The 1975 * Migos * Greta Van Fleet * Major Lazer
This will likely be my last Boston Calling before I leave the area, so of course I'm going to be disappointed with the lineup (especially if the rumored names are true).
I'm so glad that I didn't jump on early bird tickets for once.

The reason they skipped Boston Calling is that Andre Benjamin has family in St. Louis and the fall edition that year conflicted with LouFest. Usually, you'd think that acts would opt for the bigger festival if they just want to play one on a given weekend, but we drew the very short straw here.

Ahhh ok. Didn't know that. Still sad but I saw Big Boi live which is still pretty close. too bad Andre 3k detests touring.

Sure, I'll put up with 21P and The 1975 (The actual year was so much better than the band, take my word for it), if it means that The Replacements, The National, Neutral Milk Hotel, Childish Gambino, and Lake Street Dive all perform, too.
Sept 2014 was the closest they've ever come to truly having something for everybody.

I respectfully disagree. Andre brings melodies and actual songs to the mix. Sorry Ms. Jackson, Hey Ya, and Roses aren't raps, they're songs which feature some rapping. And while A3K may not be mistaken for Otis Redding, he's a much better singer than Kayne or Kid Cudi.
Many years ago, a rumor was floating around that A3K and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips were going to collaborate. Now, that would have been interesting.

I read a Greg Kot Chicago Tribune review of her last tour and, without making a huge deal about it, he wrote that all of her vocals were pre-recorded.
There's no excuse for that. If you can't do your job, find another line of work.
I can easily see her headlining Boston Calling in 2019. She's at that career stage where headlining second tier festivals makes sense -- you can headline arenas, but you've plateaued and are probably never going to get any bigger than you are now or were a couple of years ago. Rather than begin to see some empty seats at the NBA/NHL arenas, do a festival run, especially if you haven't done a big summer festival run before.
That's why I predicted Eminem for 2018 right after the 2017 edition. He fit that category perfectly.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
The Cure • Rihanna • Twenty One Pilots Vampire Weekend • The 1975 • Solange • Death Cab for Cutie
Tbh out of that top 7 the only 2 i listen to frequently are The Cure and DCFC. I honestly hope we get Kanye despite his antics. Been trying to see him for a while. Or even AM because i love tranquility base so much.

With all due respect, this is a super wrong take. The difference between Rihanna and Eminem in 2018 is his relevancy dips with every project he puts out, while she's been riding a constant upswing in popularity despite, besides a feature here and there, dropping only beauty products for the past almost three years. Behind a new album or not Rihanna could headline Coachella, the south main at Lolla, pretty much any fest she wants. To say her popularity has plateaued and that she wouldn't sell out arenas is just flat out incorrect

I was at Rihanna's TD Garden's show in 2016 (through free tickets), and while a fuck ton of vocals were prerecorded, there were definitely moments where she sang. Agreed that it's lame, but people who pay money for that want the RIHANNA EXPERIENCE and DGAF about musical purism like you and me.
Also, it was a sold out show, so her bankability is still solid.
