I have most my schedule figured out now.. Tried to leave lots of time to explore and stumble around.
Thursday is loose except for Ross from Friends and John Digweed. Want to try and take in as much as possible.
Friday: the Vaccines (so happy about this add) > Sheryl Crow > Lukas Nelson > Lumineers > TDCC > half of Tame > half of Interpol. LN: Carl Cox > Four Tet
Saturday: the Burning Hell > half Lizzo > half Johnny Marr > Liam Gallagher > Jungle > little bit of the Killers > Chemical Brothers. I'm going to try and book it down to see Hot Chip. But I'm thinking that's not doable. Hope they pop up somewhere else during the weekend.
Sunday: Mavis Staples > Slaves > Baby Metal. MY BIGGEST CONFLICT Miley, or the Good, the Bad & the Queen.. God damn.. > Vampire Weekend > the Cure
Firstly... Big applause for making the journey. Not sure where you are, but even east coast is a big trip. Chuck in vacation days budget, you are way more committed than many. The festival is all the better for people who really want to be there.
Secondly... I’m guessing first time? As brutal as it might initially sound, chop that list in half - for your must sees. Partly just practicality - the site is truly huge. But more importantly, so much of Glastonbury is the stumble-upon factor. Or stumble over.
It’s why it sells out x 10 with no lineup. The music, specific music at least, is a side bonus.
(And now, if you’ve been before, I’ll feel an idiot!)
Anyone know if Bellapads come with bedding? The email my friend got says "canvas tents" don't come with bedding and then lists the canvas tents. But Bellapads are not listed. Would one assume that bedding is included with Bellapads then?
Looks like: Inflatable mattress, maybe a basic lining sheet, but no duvet (comforter?) or blankets.
If you can’t justify bringing on the flight, I can give tips on how to sort that in the UK.

peace and Pilton good times
Thanks man! Been trying to get here since 2014! Very happy to finally be making the trek. Spending time in London, Bristol and Bath before hand!
I thought I was keeping me schedule pretty light already! Most of those acts are at nearby stages, and a bit of time between. I'm a wanderer at festivals so I always allocate myself some time between sets. I don't like to jam pack my days because I know it's unrealistic. I'm sure no matter where I end up or what I see I'll be happy. I could see nothing but the Cure and I'll be happy. I'm really checking off the top of the bucket list with this one. And, I just got my ticket in the mail today ! Game on!

No harm in having a hypothetical plan... just resist being a slave to it.
Sometimes “trip of a lifetime” visitors get beholden, and then in hindsight say “If I went again I’d not do that”.
Stay flexible, and don’t get into FOMO if things take a drift.

I'm always down to go with the flow! Honestly most times when I look back at what I originally had scheduled it isn't nearly similar to what I ended up doing.. I've one work day left between me and vacation ..
Arrived in London ahead of the fest! Words can’t fully describe my anticipation. Building out my schedule and want to make sure I don’t miss any must sees.
Can people throw out some smaller (below the top few lines) names they highly recommend seeing?

Fab. Enjoy it, pace yourself (hard to self discipline on that), keep a little “me time” even it’s just an hour dozing at your tent.
Do the South east corner. Make a night when you’re not committed to headliners elsewhere. have some energy for it.
Pretty cool post even though I completely disagree with the Jay-Z and Chris Martin points. Would be awesome to see him in a setting like that to compliment seeing him in a totally different setting in the states.

Stormzy: Wow much love to these two music artists who I appreciate and who I consider inspirations, thank you.
Me: Actually, they both suck, Stormzy, you complete fucking idiot, you moron. Other than that cool post.
But if that was the only secret set you even heard about then youve missed out on a ton of stuff.
Grime will never make it big in the u.s., but that doesnt mean the good ones cant make an impression. Stormzy had that kind of energy at Coachella 3 years ago and be was on at 2pm in blazing heat. It was great watching it on the stream and totally deserved to headline despite the hate.
Heat is absolutely brutal. Feels like Coachella 2016. But would much rather bake in the sun than swim in the mud.
Festival itself has been awesome so far.
Its not that hot temp wise, it just feels worse because of where you are in the world. Youre technically closer to the sun currently than in north america, so even at mid 80 degree temps youre going to cook. It was blazing the first 2 days in 2017 but then settled down and then had a couple spots of rain which made a huge difference. Im sure its dusty.

um, no. Heard of quite a few. But thanks?
I am very, very tired. Feeling less than human today. Getting back towards London and getting poolside at the hotel ASAP Short version: it's an incredible place, it was an incredible time. If you ever can, do it
For whatever reason a few Killers songs came up on our YouTube recommended list. We watched some. Seems like despite all we bag about them being a lazy booking or used headliner, they went over extremely well at Glastonbury. IDK.

Lol. My Aussie friend posted a Snapchat of her and her friend freezing, wearing hoodies and blankets during the day in the Pyramid Stage field waiting for the Killers.

Did it 2 years ago and itching to go back. Hopefully I get some insane ticket luck for the 50th.

Mr Brightside is still on the Uk singles charts after 15 years. The love has for that group never subsided over there, so it was pretty much a slam dunk of a booking for anyone going. I would go onto the bbc music youtube channel and watch some other performances jst to get an idea of how the weekend did go. Kylie Minogue had one of the largest crowds ever for a Pyramid Stage performance.

I was going to write a whole thing but I can't manage. Here's some random notes, and acts I saw: - Took me 5 minutes to get in. Shocked at how easy it was to get in - The want to camp was an absolute bitch. But your excitement carries you through it - Camped at Bushy Ground. Excellent spot - would go there again - I was a 5 minutes walk from Silver Hayes where i'd go every morning for coffee, english breakfast and chats with whoever else is an early riser. - Wednesday and Thursday I walked and walked and walked and walked. Getting my bearings and seeing where everything is and how to get around. The key I found, was cutting through camp ground walkways. - Late nights were so fun and weird. I was up until 7am Friday and Saturday - ending in the East Corner. Unfuckingbelivable area. NYC Downlow line skipping with a green moustache was the coolest. - The Park was favorite area. I feel like this is popular opinion maybe - The hot weather all weekend was very harsh. I got sun burns in places I didn't even know were places. Ended up wearing pants Friday-Sunday just because my legs were so ruined - There is a FUCK OFF amount of food vendors. If you cant find something to eat you're the problem. Vendors were in abundance too - I bought so many jackets. - Main acts I saw: Friday: the Vaccines, Sheryl Crow, Lukas Nelson, the Lumineers, TDCC, Tame, Stormzy (just a bit), Interpol. Saturday: surprise morning Vampire Weekend set (quick nap in the shade before hand saved my LIFE), Johnny fuckin Marr, LEEM G, the Killers (masterclass) for an hour, Chemical Brothers, 4 songs of Hot Chip including Sabotage with Four Tet. Sunday: Pyramid all day Kylie (who had maybe the biggest crowd all weekend - couldn't even get near. Only could get a glance at the right screen), Miley (my surprise set of the weekend), Vampire Weekend, upfront for the Cure - cried when the Cure opened with Plainsong. Dont care fuck you. They were perfect and if you argue double fuck you.
Thats all I got so far I guess. Ive been trying to explain it to people since ive been been home and my first day at work today was a dumpster fire. Fuck it - worth it - 10 out of 10 time would do over and over and over again.
Love the review. You managed to see and do a lot. Especially good to hear your possible schedule didn’t stop you from hitting dawn in the corners. I’ve still not made it into Downlow in the ten years it’s been open. Impressive line jump
Oh and I wish now I’d been at Stormzy. This multi deck thing has never been done before... he pulled out all the stops...
God this was incredible. So much better than Primavera last year (my first intl fest)
Really glad we stuck with Worthy View for our first time.
Didn't plan on watching the Killers at all but saw the whole set and was blown away. Felt like a perfect "Glasto" set to me, idk. No regrets on missing Chems or Hot Chip (saw em both in LA recently anyway)
Stumbled into the Southeast Corner on Thursday night, it was amazing and terrifying all at once
Had an amazing trip around this too - 4 days in London, Metallica at Twickenham then straight to Stonehenge for solstice sunrise, driving around southern England, beach cliffs, the Cotswalds, then a few days in Scotland (Edinburgh/Loch Ness/etc)
Will probably try for Glasto 50 tix, lol. It was that good
