I need to decide if I want to go round two next year.. The guy who got me tickets last year is on board to get them for me again.. He's been the past 10 editions and gets his own groups, plus another group of stragglers like mine. the Mac seem nailed on, and now Paul making a comment like he did? God dammit..
I think we're for sure going for tickets. But I have a theory that the further way from the UK you are, the better your chances of getting tickets are. I know a FUCKTON of Aussies who have been, but my friends from London/Coventry try every year and have never gotten tickets.
Hopefully being in Sydney will finally be good for something.

If its your year to go, you get em. Got tickets for 2017 and it paid off when Radiohead was announced 2 weeks later. Hoping I can get in for this one.
And im down to join a group to try, might as well. Just need 1 to get in.
Trip is booked over here. Just need those tickets now.
Def try for the coach on sale, it was very convenient taking the coach from the O2 in London. Ended up being like a 2.5hr ride to the fest, we arrived on Wed afternoon and were able to miss all the lines to get in.
Try to get an early coach out on Monday though. Took over 4hrs to get back to London due to traffic leaving the site.
Yeah I missed my flight last time because of the slow Monday travel time. Took us even longer just to get the festival on Wednesday by Coach. Still will try to buy that way again though. Will deal with difficult travel if it means I get a ticket.
A few Coach questions for those that have done it in the past:
If you buy coach tickets, do you have to specify which "departure town" you are using? Do certain coach stops/towns sell out or do you just pick the best location for you and they figure out how many actual buses are needed at each stop? Any idea on apprx costs for the coach part of the ticket?

You do have to select point of departure and buy a corresponding return ticket either in the package or later on your own. They all sell out fast, you just have to pick the spot that works best for you (Wembley, Oxford, etc). This page shows you departure/arrival points www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/getting-here/by-coach/. I think roundtrip tickets will run around 80 pounds for travel (I paid 39 for one way).

Do you select you departure point on the same page as putting in your registration info or is it a secondary page after you've passed that point? If certain departure points are sold out, am I just given a list of whatever is left over? Trying to figure out if I can get stuck with the only option being some remote corner of England. Coming from the states, my ideal departure spot would be somewhere in/close to London but I'll figure out how to get to wherever if it means getting a ticket.
We'll certainly try both the coach and GA windows, just want to be prepared if I win the lottery.

Yeah, that’s basically how it works. You should have a better shot at coach than GA though. There are multiple pickups in London so if you do get through you probably won’t have to stray too far.

You gotta try whatever you can to get in. But yes, coming in by coach is nice since they have a different entrance and its faster entry. If you are looking to get an ideal camp slot then leave as early as you can, its worth it to be in a camp site that has access to everything instead of being far off on one side of the site. I ended up arriving at around 10:30am on the weds and got a good spot just before it filled up where my friends wanted to set about an hour later. Also, if youre worried about your tickets being mailed, just select will call. Their ticket lick up is right by the coach entrance.
I’m pretty sure the driver of the bus gives your your ticket so I don’t think you have to worry about it. Even then we had to trade a piece of paper for wristbands once we got to the fest. Also maybe I just had a different experience, but my coach ride took FOREVER to get into the festival once we arrived. I’m sure traffic just depends on the year. If you don’t want to fight for a good spot, you can always try Worthyview accommodations. I’m going that route again so I don’t have to carry much equipment. Those should go on sale towards the end of Oct.
We are thinking Worthy View as well. I know its a longer hike back and forth (with hill) than many of the GA sites, but I'll trade that for not having to deal with bringing camping equipment, not worrying about finding a good camping space and having better access to showers/toilets. Maybe if I had been there before and knew the site, I'd feel differently. Interestingly, this year it looks like they are prioritizing WV for people with coach tickets. I would think that would drive up demand for the coach tickets. Either way, we'll adjust to whatever option we can get. We're just crossing fingers and going to try all options.

New for 2020, people who purchase coach passes will have priority in Worthy View. Last year our coach got us to the site at about 7pm and we were able to get a spot in Dairy Ground. It was like a 10min walk to Pangea and The Other, but roughly 45-50mins from the southeast corner (those late night walks back as the sun is coming up can be brutal).
Also, just a heads up, Worthy View is up quite a large steep hill, if you have mobility issues it might be the best idea.
The thing is theyre overcharging for those coach rides with the ticket because they can from London especially. There will be a list closer to the sale date showing departures and pricing. I paid 25GBP in 2017 for a coach ticket one way. Remember its only about 10,000 tickets that get sold on the coach sale date, the rest are on the sunday. Personally I think Worthy View is not worth it. You can buy a tent and supplies onsite and its gonna cost you less doing that then going up that hill and really being away from everything everyday. I took one shower the whole time at Glasto and just changed clothes and cleaned myself up as best as I could the other days. The weather was nice enough that you didnt feel icky. And its not the end of the world to wait in line for a shower for an hour anyway if you truly felt you had to clean up every day. Cause thats how it could be at Roo or Coachella, so whats the difference. And if current currency conversion holds itll be $340 for your ticket in total.
I’m in Australia, so it’s $500 AUD for us per ticket. Our exchange rate is shit atm.
I think the biggest thing I’m in the air about it WV vs GA camp. I like the idea of a solid structure, bedding, not having to get a tent, etc. but the hill and location are def turn offs.
How does buying/renting camping supplies on site work? I’ve seen companies that rent out equipment, some that even set it up for you (tho not necessary for me since I can pitch a tent easily). But it just seems so wasteful to buy a tent just for the weekend then donate it or something. There’s gotta be a more cost effective, and less wasteful, way of doing it.
Traveling with our own camping supplies isn’t an option.

There’s camping stores throughout the site...the equipment is actually not terribly priced either. Last year we ordered a tent, 2 sleeping bags, and 2 pillows from Decathlon (UK sporting goods store), we were able to pick the order up at any London location then just took it on the coach with us.
You honestly don’t need much camping equipment, it’s not like a North American fest where people are hanging out at their sites and socializing. Once people get up in the morning they’re usually gone for the day. You spend very little time at camp.
Also, in regards to showers, you can get a weekend pass for $35 for the Lost Horizons sauna area in the Tipi Village. It’s a clothing optional retreat within the fest, with showers, sauna, plunge pool, etc. They have some nice large tipis filled with pillows where you can nap as well. If you don’t mind seeing some old naked hippies it’s a really cool spot.
Guess that’s at least one positive thing about WV. I showered daily and never waited beyond 30 min. It worked for us as well considering we were rarely at camp so it’s not like we were going back and forth once the day started.
I was anxious about doing Worthy View for my first Glasto instead of "real" camping - and I don't regret it at all. The walk uphill really isn't that bad and the conveniences of WV allowed for us to enjoy the rest of the festival that much more. Would do again.
