They shouldn’t be taken too seriously. They are more like the New York Post to my knowledge. They are definitely quick to throw up a headline. It would be odd for the Eavis’ to go on the record saying they need acts to “drive ticket sales” considering this is a guaranteed sellout, so I call bullshit
That said, Big Rock band = Arctic Monkeys - that I think we can count on.

Slayer and Dropkick Murphys got announced for Hellfest, defenitely see both coming. Even more so because it'll be Slayer's final tour.. Orrrr they'd go to Download UK at the start of June.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Madonna on there. Especially if there's been a desire to have her for all this time. Most festivals you'd be pretty twisted to have a headliner you don't really care for. But there's counter options out the ass here. Just looking back at old schedules it's bananas the other things you could be doing.
I decided if I don't get tickets for this, Rock Werchter would be quite the consolation. There's always the 50yr anniversary the next year.
Who's been two either and has some comments or advice?
Be registered for on sale with passport photo uploaded asap, find a group willing to participate in the ticket lottery, try for the initial "Coach onsale" first, pray.

Been to Werchter 3x, would love to make it Glasto once but idk. I feel like the enormous amount of people or better lads + the amount of conflicts in one weekend are holding me back. It's not like you can easily go from one stage to the other in 5 mins because of the amount of people just everywhere.. but would love to go once. Now, I'd rather see 30 acts and feel dead tired than see 15 and have a chill weekend.

Glastonbury is massive and all but it's not impossible to navigate. It can be quite the effort, but the experience is worth the hassle. I would recommend any festival fan capable of going to check it out. Once is enough but in looking back you'll want to do it again.

Long time lurker, rare poster here. I’ve been fortunate enough to attend both (Glastonbury 2016, Rock Werchter 2017). They’re both a million times better than American festivals in their own way. I’ll do my best to compare.
Glastonbury is an absolute monster of a fest and the best I’ve ever been to. The farm is enormous and mildly overwhelming at first. We took a bus from London to get there. Coming from the states, we opted to book a pod in Worthy View. The hike up is steep, but the view and convenience are worth it. Everyone else camps literally wherever they want. No pre-cut camping squares. Find a spot and pitch a tent. There’s more stages than you can count and a ton of non-music related activities going on 24/7. The music doesn’t start officially until Friday, but I highly recommend getting there Wednesday when the fest opens to get your bearings and just take everything in. There’s plenty of options for food scattered all over the grounds. The crowds are insane (in the best way) and extremely engaged in the music. No one is talking during sets, just singing along and dancing. It’s a relatively older crowd compared to Bonnaroo/Lolla etc. Everyone handles their alcohol and extracurriculars surprisingly well. People travel from all over the world for this thing and if I could I would go back every year. Adele on the Pyramid Stage was the greatest show I’ve ever seen (for reference Macca at Roo in 2013 is #2 and it’s not close). Also bring boots for the mud. There will be mud.
Rock Werchter is also great on a much smaller scale. Only 3 stages, but they get the big names every year. Super easy to get to from Brussels. Like Glastonbury we opted for pre-set up tents in the Hive Resort. Highly recommend it. Everything at this festival is very well run and organized. They have a recycling program where you can collect 10 bottles/cups and receive tokens for food/beer. If you play your cards right you won’t have to pay for drinks all weekend. Also keeps the grounds very clean. The token system was hit or miss for us because you’re not actually conscious of how much you’re spending until you’re out of tokens and have to reload. The crowds are much older and most everyone we talked to was surprised we came all that way for the fest. They treat it like it’s a hometown fest as opposed to this grand thing we all see it as. Everyone was really friendly and polite, no drunk kids running around. The 2 small stages are under massive tents that make every show seem intimate. The best part is seeing huge acts in America at 1pm (Cage the elephant) and 2pm (Lorde) because they’re not quite as big over there. Overall great value for the names they pull and would love to go back.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Hope this helps!

They're far from small tho? Klub C, the "smallest", of the two has a cap of around 10-12k and the Barn has a cap of around 20k. Since this year there's also a 4th stage, a small outdoor stage. Lorde played in the evening at 7 pm, second to last name in the Barn. Tho, I've to agree that it is fun seeing big acts in the US play here an afternoon set like Cage ('17), Post Malone ('18) or Rae Sremmurd ('17). It's like you can see them live for a smaller crowd as they're used to before they blow up here like in the US.
Rock Werchter is also great on a much smaller scale.
What do you mean smaller scale? With 88k people every day, it's one of the biggest festivals in Europe? Or did you meant the amount of stages?
Just the amount of stages and size of the festival grounds. Much easier to navigate and I never felt too crowded despite 88k people. Didn’t realize it was that many lol.

Wow didn’t realize it was that many in the tents either. Just goes to show how it really does feel like a small gig in there. You’re right about Lorde, my apologies. I remembered it being earlier because the sun set so late that time of year.

You probably know more about Euro billing than I but are Kylie, Liam, VW and Disclosure really above Gambino and Tame? Liam is a big deal deal in England, but in 2018 is he justifying that spot with one okay album? Didn't he play last year too?

Glastonbury doesn't really "do" billing
be quiet and let me argue really specific points about mundane topics

Picked those 3 as subs and Gambino, Tame and Prodigy at the Other, I think. Kylie is playing that afternoon pop act thing so she gets billed higher even tho she's playing in the afternoon. Liam sold out Manchester stadium and is ready to headline if not already busy headlining UK fests (think he did the organised by Disclosure in early June thus year). Could see Tame subbing as well tho. It's just a mock anyways.

See I would almost be okay with missing this next year. Seeing Macca next month, AM last month, and Fleetwood I don't REALLY want to see without Lindsey Buckingham. Although I guess I should wait until the first reviews come back from this upcoming tour. Great mock though dude!

Liam Gallagher tweeted 'see you next year' to Michael and Emily Evis after playing the Pilton Party recently. Have to imagine with a new record he'd sub the Pyramid
Over on efests there's been talk about how Michael Eavis didn't like the Cure since the last time they played there? Did a quick Google and didn't find anything specific. What's that all about do you know?
Regardless - I'd be over the moon about seeing the Cure at Glastonbury.
