Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I think we're done for a few hours. Jake Jortles is off until at least four. I'm ready to go when I'm up but I don't know that I'll be up at four to select.
This is the second fuckin draft in a row Slack has taken someone in the first round RIGHT before I was going to. There’s a special place in Hell for you.
And yet you still won.
Because I gave you two of my headliners.
You're gonna have to make a hell of a bargain to get the Talking Heads from me.

With 14 picks on the first day, we're on pace to finish in a little over 89 days. That puts us at a finish date of September 17th.
If Maddog had simply set a proxy (I could have pretty much called his Nirvana pick, js), we'd probably have 18 picks by now, a pace that has us finishing in a tad over 69 days and an August 28th finish.

Props to the two willing to select living acts in the first. The urge to select a dead fucker right now is clouding my thought process. I'll be picking in a few minutes since this spot hasn't garnered any attention for trades.
Good. Hope everyone is ready for Ni**as in Paris to be played 43 times in a row to close out the festival.
It was such a hard decision with where I was placed in the draft, and I think I know what the next 4-6 picks will be, but damn some runs in those setlists were incredible:
Cant Tell Me Nothing Flashing Lights Jesus Walks Diamonds Remix Public Service Announcement U Dont Know
I wish I wasn't living off of Ramen Noodles when that tour was happening. My only hesitations with this pick were that 4 songs or so from the album that they were playing are meh, and that it wasn't necessarily Jay Z at MSG in 03 (though he had recently recaptured his relevance with BP3). Small price to pay to get 2/5 of my fav hip hop artists with one pick.

Personally, when I vote on this, I will only consider songs from the project drafted.

Reasoning: If supergroups and side projects were to have the entire catalog of the artists involved, they would just litter the top of he draft unnecessarily. I shouldn't be able to claim both Guns N Roses' music and Stone Temple Pilots' because i picked Velvet Revolver. I shouldn't have access to both Rage and Soundgarden songs because i chose Audioslave. I should have Nirvana's catalog available if I chose Foo Fighters.

I was under the impression that we were drafting artists to play a live set rather than an artists' discography. If you were at a Throne set at Bonnaroo, would you just plug your ears and close your eyes during Power and 99 Problems?

These are terrible analogies when comparing to Watch the Throne.
Watch The Throne would be analogous to Audioslave containing the full Soundgarden and RATM band lineups where both projects rip through 15 of their greatest songs + 7-8 Audioslave songs. If that were a thing that ever existed, I would have expected it to be selected very high.
The Foo Fighters is an even worse example. At least Audioslave reliably plays a healthy amount of Rage and Soundgarden songs live. Foo Fighters have never in their history been known to tear into 8-10 Nirvana songs mid-set. And even if they did, neither of these situations are as authentic as Watch the Throne, since they don't contain the complete original bands. When Jay was playing Dirt off Your Shoulders live on the WTT tour, the only noticeable difference between that and a solo Jay-Z show is that Kanye was likely doing adlibs as opposed to Memphis Bleek (will need to verify).

Again, i just think it skews the value of acts too far towards supergroups and limited projects.
Most people wont agree with me on this, and I'm okay with that, I just figured it would be fair to let people know my stance early on, since my vote will probably be 3-4% of total voting. Waiting to reveal this after the draft is over, or well into it, would be kinda a dick move.

Leaders of The New School legitimately released music under that moniker, and performed live under that moniker. I should not be able to draft them and have access to a setlist including all of the music of ATCQ, De La Soul, Public Enemy, Busta, BDK, and KRS.

Totally cool with you voting however you'd like, obviously. I'm going to defend the pick after spending a first rounder on it though.
Not to go in circles, but I think the reason this "Supergroup" is different than any other is because it contains the full contents of two artists AND those artists play a respectable amount of their own songs at their live show.
I would have selected Travelin Wilbury's number 1 overall if it meant that the full rosters of the Beatles, Dylan (Band backing), Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and ELO were all going to play 10 of their own songs + Travelin Wilbury's songs. But that isn't even close to what the reality of those shows was.
That is in effect what the WTT tour was (just way less epic)
Uh.. If it were a novelty set than it would be Throne songs only yeah, now it's a Throne show which implies other songs aswell from both. That's how I see it atleast.
