Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
This is gonna shock yall, but I like my idea the best and think simply limiting to a pool of artists detached from their specific performances is kinda lame and allows for less clever stuff. Allowing for drafting Radiohead '12 and Radiohead '06 from Roo, etc would be a niche thing and I think it works that way. Having a draft limited to a pool otherwise doesn't sound as interesting to me.
don't you think this would result in a lot of samey-ness across lineups though? multiple lineups with radiohead, Kanye, Kendrick, Phish, etc?
But we'd have setlists and tour cycles to base the difference in one iteration or another of a band on. A lot of people here might have been at those shows, so the distinction should be reasonably clear.
Like I said, it's a niche idea. Drafters would be limited to the number of years of Bonnaroo (17?) Or Coachella (20?)

Would like to reiterate my idea from months ago where each artist would be assigned a certain value that determined how many times they could be drafted. Also down with the big 4 idea.
I'd like to bring up again my idea of a non-exclusive draft. It'd be a step towards being more like actually booking festivals since people are going to want big names but also distinguish themselves from everyone else. You'd need to form a completely new strategy, which I think could be neat. Alternately, we could set a limit for the number of times an act could be picked (maybe 3-5), so that there was a built-in mechanism to avoid homogeneity other than relying on individuals' strategies.
If we went infinity-style like we did with this one I'd suggest upping the amount of shows played together to 5 and include that they'd have to have an album recorded.
Edit: Though personally I think this would work better non-infinity style. I got kinda burned out towards the end of this draft.

Curious to know why we would have a draft in this scenario?
Oh sorry just saw that there was a limit on amount of times something could be picked.

I think Jaz's scenario could be a little difficult. I like sticking with the one-time for each act, but I do think the exclusivity rules should be lightened, and maybe the activity years extended. Is it 2 years now? Make it 4? If it's 4, then that's fine. I just get confused by so many rules, especially the exclusivity rules.
I want another one already haha. I got a sick plan for the next one (I think).
But for real tho, idk if you read my comment about the drop off of interest after the first round, cdevaney, but we really should change something about that for next time. We either make those voting rounds more interesting each round by for example in round one you just vote for the blueprint (FA's and acts you chose in the first rounds), next round gets to present their poster, schedule comes after that.. Or we just make the amount of voting rounds shorter. There's just that much you can talk about your line up if nobody asks a question about it.
Also a thing that I would change is for people who don't follow the thread like the participants is to change the title when the rollout of line ups is happening, I think that really could benefit the interest in this game even more at the end and is gonna effect the voting for the better, I think. Many people don't have the time to sit down and go through 25 line ups all at once in the first round (I assume?).
The concept of the game doesn't really matter all that much cause it all comes down to doing the same thing for 3/4 months again, it's just the way and rules we apply to the format we chose is changing.

Another idea would be to toss all of the lineups into a bracket at the end. That would solve for most of the strategic voting and non-voting that occurs in the normal system.

This. I've also suggested a similar thing couple of months ago, and I think that kind of roll-out might be better.
I still try to explain stuff from my lineup and reveal new things, but there's a limit to that unfortunately.
1. Band had a show* in 2017 2. Band had a show* in 2018 3. Band has a show* planned in 2019 4. 50 rounds, no free agents 5. 24 hr rnds 1-15, 12 hr rnds 16-40, 6 hr rnds 41-50.
*A show is defined as performed in front of an audience of at least 1 person *A person is defined as a living person or a camera *A camera is defined as any recording device
Easy definitions, less homogeneity, quicker rounds, everyone seemed to be in agreement headliners are important, but this would make undercard actually important with smaller lineups and less dope headliners, would limit how much time people put into "should I draft some country acts?"

Lol, it was a thought I had multiple times, no attack, just something I know a few of us probably debate and end up skipping out on.

Yeah, I know we voted for the voting rounds on their own to get longer.. I just wish we could spice things up each round so people just don't get thrown everything all at once in their face and after the first round, nothing really happens anymore.. Just look at the amount of pages of each round or the amount of people who voted for each round..

tbh this isn’t terrible. The first round is obviously gonna have more voters because more people are voting for themselves and more pages cause there’s more dick measuring. By the end, pretty much everything that can be said about a lineup has been said and people typically have their minds made.
I've eaten corn with 8(1 is the ld rest are band member (s)) of my free agent acts and 4 drafted acts, smoked cigs hanging out with with 3 drafted acts, and drank with 1 drafted act that I didn't know who it was with till a week or 2 later and I just might have made an ass out of myself lol
This was fun. Also got a chance to interact with some non mafia players lol Looking forward to seeing what the next concept will be
