I'd actually bet on Billie outdrawing The Cure on Saturday ACL. She's only competing with Gary Clark/Masego whereas Cure compete with Gambino/Silent Disco. Eilish appears on the SNL season opener Sept 28th with Woody Harrelson.
First time heading down to ACL this year (Weekend 2). My boyfriend and I are getting in a bit early in the week so we can have sometime to see Austin since neither of us have ever been. Anyone here have any pre-fest 'traditions' for things that they typically do or see while they're in the area? (Those restaurant and BBQ recommendations on a previous page were a huge help.) On the same note, are there any other "extra-curricular" activities around the city besides late night shows that typically happen in conjunction with ACL? Now that the schedule is out we're starting to turn our attention to the non-festival days to figure out how/where we'll spend our time around the city.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide

Lots of cool outdoor **** to do if you have the time. There are any number of lakes and rivers in the area. Zilker will be closed to the public because of the festival, but you can go to the Greenbelt west or east of the park and hang out along the river. That's pretty popular especially if it's hot and assuming it has rained in the last few days so that it's full (there are spots that always have water, but not all of them do).
Hamilton Pool is one of the best swimming holes in the country and has been voted that throughout the years. We've been there a bunch. You may need to call ahead and reserve a spot for a block of time.

We always go kayaking down the river Thursday afternoon. If you time it right, you can hear them sound check on the Amex stage.

Barton Springs stays open but dont try and park there.
Who is meeting me at Cheer Ups and then BarbarellA? It will be 19 weeks since Ive been in Austin and my body will be ready.
Got ya. We are ubering in so we won’t be parking. I’ve never been to austin so looking. Forward to the weekend and BBQ
What are y’all looking at BBQ? I’m always for Lockhart, but if you’re ubering, that won’t get it. They have lots of decent places in Austin, but the locals would have to recommend in town bbq. I went to some bar bbq joint near UT, but I can’t remember the name of that place. Obviously Franklin’s is mecca but it’s not doable unless you order like 200 worth a couple weeks in advance. Micklethwait is great but it will be tough to get anything there either during ACL. I’m not big on Salt Lick (not hating on it) or most of the County Lines. Some people like those

Looking for anything brisket that is good but easy-ish to get to via Uber. We won’t be going in to the festival till 2pm daily so gives us some time in morning/early afternoon.

No need to Uber. Check out one of these...They will probably be one or two parked in your bathroom at wherever you're staying.
How is parking around the festival? I’m good parking a mile away. Just trying to decide between Uber everywhere or rent a car. We would be using the car to get to and from festival and airport.

When I'm not Ubering from a nearby friend's place or hotel, I usually park downtown, take the shuttle to Zilker, then walk back downtown from Zilker. You could also take an Uber back from Zilker, alternatively.

How much is downtown parking ball park. Right now the price difference between Uber and rental car is $10

We rode bikes around the city and parks on the Thursday before in 2017. You can rent them everywhere. Highly recommend

This sounds fun. Unfortunately we won’t arrive till Thursday night
