There was some mock/fake lineup going around that was apparently reported as an actual leak by some EDM site, and it showed up in my Google feed the other day. I almost fell for it for a second, but then I realized I had no idea what that source was, the "news" was two days old and I hadn't seen it reported anywhere else, and it looked too good to be true. I also don't listen to much EDM and have no idea why Google thought that was worth pushing to me.
But Paul, MMJ late night, Parquet Courts, etc., looked really good, though not seeing much EDM (or an EDM headliner) or many acts I haven't heard of on the top half of the poster was a dead giveaway.

Recap 12/14 Pages Spanned: 295-317 Is this worth recapping?: Prolly not but fuck it Entertainment value: 8, it wasn't a wild ride like it sometimes can be, but there were a lot of funny posts. Info value: 8.5. The Nude Party confirmed via Roo Clue #1. /u/jesus4jews confirms the Avett Brothers. Clairo confirmed via Roo Clue #2. Kalliope announced by Roo. Vendor on Reddit who is potentially credible confirms Phish/Robyn/Janelle Monae/Arctic Monkeys/Alanis Morissette. RooBus/Tom confirm Foo Fighters.
Flowy flow: Hodgepodge of random HL talk and a couple fast food rankings > Will we get Roo clues for good acts? > potential EDM headliners > System of a Down and the Prodigy appear on US festival lineups > first Roo Clue is up (The Nude Party) > Vince Staples tour dates, not playing TN > would you rather have the Prodigy or SOAD? > some redditor vaguely says that he heard the lineup is "actually good" > redditor /u/jesus4jews (reputable in the scoop game) confirms the Avett Brothers > ranking of basic bro folk-rock bands > detailed opinions on Avetts and Hozier > oodles of Greta Van Fleet praise > RooBus mentions their Wednesday night pre-Roo show that they host > jonesjupiter had a traumatic experience involving a musical bus as a child, he's still working through it > 2nd Roo Clue comes out, it's Clairo > Late nights at Roo have changed, has pros and cons > Inforoo is full of old farts > festie foods > Green Day > Bonnaroo announces Kalliope will return > you can't buy beers at all times in Centeroo anymore > vendor on Reddit who confirmed attendance numbers last year confirms Phish, Robyn, Janelle Monae, Arctic Monkeys, and Alanis Morissette > reasons to doubt those scoops > RooBus has heard Foo Fighters from multiple sources > Tom has a source saying the same > Tom's source also says Band Aid is in play, and I totally realized this was a joke from the jump and didn't edit this comment in the next day because I was stoned when doing the recap initially > bonnaroobuff's source gives him a smirk emoji in re:Foos > Todd/Tranter confirm Foo Fighters, Phish, Post Malone, and Arctic Monkeys, but that ISN'T the top four > Drake
I'm picturing the most inforoo friendly portion of the lineup looking like this:
Foo Fighters - Phish - Arctic Monkeys - Vampire Weekend - Avett Brothers - A$AP Rocky Disclosure - Leon Bridges - Vince Staples - James Blake - The Hives - Zhu - Mac Demarco - Mitski Pusha T - Sharon Van Etten - Broken Bells - Car Seat Headrest - Bob Moses - Tycho - Joe Russo's Almost Dead Vulfpeck - Action Bronson - Toro y Moi - Tedeschi Trucks Band - Hippo Campus - Idles - White Denim - Shame JPEGMAFIA - Ten Fe - The Nude Party
Toss in like 5-8 good acts that we aren't speculating, 30 shit edm artists, Post Malone, and 30 unrecognizable names at the bottom and we are all set.
Robyn would be great but it’s kinda hard to imagine her being there considering she has shows in Europe on either side of Bonnaroo and she would probably draw pretty badly at Bonnaroo.
Yeah but remember that vendor that told us 2016 wouldn't be a lot of people but 2017 be have better tolet's they say someone told them Phish and Robin woilds. Be At bonnaroo
Their early work was a little too '70s' for my taste, but when From the Fires came out in '17, I think they really came into their own - both commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. They’ve been compared to Led Zeppelin, but I think Greta has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour. In '18, they released Anthem of the Peaceful Army, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is 'When the Curtain Falls', a song so catchy most people probably don't listen to the lyrics - but they should! Because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself!
Merry Christmas motherfuckers! Lots to recap, let's get to it.

This causes one to question the role of geography as it pertains to status in an increasingly connected world where, given a certain level of economic access (namely, access to the internet), socioeconomic status potentially becomes less relevant to human relations as it is less salient and possibly invisible on a message board that offers anonymity > nobody brings this up > Roo Clue #5 is Gojira > heavier bands wanted at Roo > George Clinton: worth seeing live? > princessofcorona is an interesting character > someone said SOMETHING then someone said SOMETHING ELSE then someone was like GRRRR and someone else was like NO YOU > gifs > OH HELL NO I AIN'T FINISHED and then BUT STILL and I'M RIGHT and NO I AM and then Druid put an end to that, thank goodness > how has Roo declined? > I've reached the end, Halle fucking lujah
That doesn’t come off as someone trying to protect rapists, just someone trying to understand the circumstances and learn, which I believe is why that thread was created (if it’s from the one I think it’s from). Why would you ridicule someone trying to get a better understanding of a very sensitive issue? This is just edgy and bad posting disguised as a zinger.
As a woman, the line “If my current girlfriend came back with this story, I'd be extremely dissapointed in her lack of any resistence whatsoever.” rubs me in an exceedingly wrong way. The idea of being disappointed that the person you claim to love didn’t react to unwanted sexual advances in the “right” way so it can’t be rape is very damaging kind of thinking.
Not Roo related but it's my recap and this is important
people are proud to exist within the boundaries of particular imaginary lines, because through a hitherto unexplained process of reward transference, the successes of people you don't know who at one time existed in a place near you become a source of personal pride that can then be used in the continual construction of the societal hierarchy. This causes one to question the role of geography as it pertains to status in an increasingly connected world where, given a certain level of economic access (namely, access to the internet), socioeconomic status potentially becomes less relevant to human relations as it is less salient and possibly invisible on a message board that offers anonymity > nobody brings this up
Welp, you guys sure did put your feetsies on the accelerator, didn't you?

Coachella should announce today. Gov Ball right after. Bonnaroo 2019 - next week. No spoilers except to say - things are looking up ⬆️ for the Roo. Dreams can come true.
we also don't know what music infinitypass considers good. although i'm assuming the original "rip bonnaroo" comment was in regards to the incredibly thin undercard of 2016, since the headliners weren't objectively poor.
The RIP Bonnaroo quote comes from Phyre Fest thread on the LN acquisition of Bonnaroo. For those that don't know, you can click on the date/time (or the xxx minutes/hours ago) of a quoted post and it will take you to where the quoted post was originally posted.
The headliners at these GV festivals are really screwing with your scoops reputation
LOL - I've been Kanyed. #squidbrain Crazy does what crazy wants. And #reborn is a nod to AC taking back the reins of the Roo & not KSG. And I like the Strokes but not as a headliner.
Schrödinger's lineup: the week between the coachella reveal and the bonnaroo reveal, when the the bonnaroo lineup is in a state of quantum superposition, is always the proudest time for bonnaroo fans.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Coachella. It's supremacy over other festivals is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of cultural and musical diversity most of the acts will go over a typical fan's head. There's also Goldenvoices's boundary-pushing booking strategy, which is deftly woven into the lineup - it draws heavily from avant-garde European art events, like Primavera, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these bands, to realise that they're not just musical acts - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike this Coachella lineup truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the depth in booking Weezer, which itself is a cryptic reference to Toto, Dorothy's pet dog in L. Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz". I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Phillip Anschutz's genius wit unfolds itself on those stages in Indio. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Coachella tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
