I have never listened to Tool. I have listened to System of a Down but I can't go on Saturday
Just got into Tool a couple years ago cuz their Rosemont show was their first Chicago show in like 8 years or something and it seemed like a big deal. Gonna see them again the day before COA in Des Moines. A lotta strong opinions on their stuff but the consensus I've reached is Aenima has better songs (Stinkfist, 46 & Two, and Aenima are played at almost every show) but Lateralus is their most complete/uniform album front to back so that would be the best jumping off point imo if you plan on giving them a go. Add some 10,000 Days, a song from Opiate/Undertow, and baby, you got a setlist going!
I'll say if you're a fan of System, they are extremely different from them. I like them both as well but they're two different ends of the spectrum in terms of song structure, pace, and vibe.
Really hoping Sunday isn't a rain out. Saturday is looking fine but Sunday it looks like there's gonna be storms on n off and some high winds. Missing Tool due to weather would be such a fucking kick in the balls.
