Princess Nokia isn't even remotely similar to Rico Nasty lol, Nokia's music has changed a lot from her pre-1992 work like Metallic Butterfly -> 1992 -> Girl Cried Red But seeing as she mainly did music from 1992, it's mostly comparable to 070 Shake. Regardless, Shake on the Outdoor is super weird, have you heard her music or seen her perform? That's going in a tent. She's pretty bad live but she brings rowdy energy that would work best in the Sonora imo. Only reason for her to be Outside is if Kanye comes out to do Ghost Town with her lol.
I don't know where I'd put him but Kaytranada closing a tent against the biggest headliner feels wrong.
It'd be the second time they did that to him, too. Feels unlikely, unless he actively wanted it (seems like the 2015 set was better received than 2017?).
Though this happened to New Order as well, so who knows.

I feel like established acts like Jamiroquai and New Order like closing out. They're not there to win anyone over, their fans will show up and they can avoid people camping to see the next act.
Having Kaytranada against Ariana would just suck for him. I wouldn't be surprised if Kaytranada remixed an Ariana Grande song.
Swap Kaytranada with Playboi Carti and gives us the guest spot laden Sahara set we are owed & deserve.
He whiffed SO hard in the Sahara last time though. Even Kaytra fans hated that set and the general Sahara population even more so.
The Kaytra issue as I see it is that the most "logical" spots he's done before. Closing a tent against the biggest pop headliner of the weekend (where we have him) or in the Sahara (did that and it did not work). While some artists (New Order, Presets, and Flogging Molly come to mind) have been slotted against a headliner multiple times, it's hardly a desirable thing and I think both fest and Kaytra probably do not want him back in Sahara.
So the next option is the 4 or so slots that are in MoGo after sunset/dark that aren't against a headliner. But we pretty much know for a fact Hopkins and Perfume have to have two of those, and then we have a long list of acts that you could also make very good claims have just as much "right" for those slots as Kaytra. SOFI TUKKER and Pusha T are two that come to mind.
That's why I tend to agree that outdoor at sunset could work, or him getting Bonobo'd. Like it shouldn't make much sense on paper, but given the crush of nighttime tent acts and the unlikeliness of him going back in Sahara or going against Ari (as others have mentioned, it would not be out of character for him to play an Ari song in sets or remix a song of hers), and the fact that we're struggling to think of early main stage acts and have zero consensus on outdoor sunset...well, weirder things have happened...nobody picked Bonobo for main or Kamasi for outdoor sunset last year.

Kaytra doesn't warrant a bigger stage than Carti does. I think most of us figure Kaytranada will not be back in the Sahara after the his performance in 2017 went over so poorly.
I literally don't see a way for PERFUME to perform before nightfall. If anything I'd like them earlier because my must sees for this day are going to stack up quickly after darkness sets, but why go to the bother of booking their show only to compromise the technical capabilities so significantly by putting it during the day?
But similarly it makes no sense to put them during Ari, and not just because it's female dance pop vs female dance pop. Japan LOVES Ariana Grande (well before the Kanji fiasco anyway). I was in Tokyo/Kyoto this August right about when Sweetener dropped, and I'm not exaggerating that every time we turned on the TV, we had a game where we had to flip through the channels and see if Ariana Grande had coverage/music video somewhere. We always lost. At that time anyway, she was a cultural force in Japan and was everywhere. So the Perfume fanbase and the Ari fanbase likely have significant overlap.
And on top of that they are not big enough for Mojave, especially on a day where our Clashfinder has Blood Orange, Kaytra, Pusha T, and SOFI TUKKER in tents. Gobi is inevitable. So night only, Gobi only, not during Ari...their options are so limited that you might as well call where we have them a lock.

Yeah, I was in Japan back when Dangerous Woman dropped. She was EVERYWHERE. There were literally little buses driving around the city blasting her album. She was on every other big screen. And the couple of CD shops I went inside, they had her promo everywhere and seemed to be sold out of copies.
UMO -> YG -> Soccer Mommy -> Pusha T -> Blood Orange -> Ariana Grande
I'd have to miss SOB x RBE, H.E.R., I REALLY hope I don't have to miss H.E.R. but it'd be easier to stay on the Main for UMO and YG than to try and split sets
Forgot this was still a complaint. Personally I don't think it would be particularly weird for her to be Outdoor, but went ahead and put her in the Mojave and Burna Boy on the Outdoor instead, for now.
Gesa vs. Blood Orange is flat out evil. Worse than Modeselektor vs. Blood Orange which I had to deal with at Osheaga
I still really don't have a good read on where to put Blood Orange this year. People seem to think Outdoor at sunset makes sense, but I feel there are too many acts that demand a later Outdoor slot to be able to comfortably slot him there. He's one of those acts that could really play anywhere except for the Sahara or Sonora at pretty much any time of day or night. Sort of like Kaytranada, except he could play the Sahara as well.

Closing mojave would be my guess
Personally I can totally see this happening, but most people seem to be generally against that idea, so I really have no clue lol
I have no idea where Blood Orange will end up, I just *really* hope it's not daytime on an outdoor stage again.
I have a feeling a night tent set makes sense, but similar to Kaytranada I have no idea where he actually will go. I'd believe almost anything at this point.
The more I think about it, the more sure I am that Cirez is closing the Yuma, not the Sahara. Especially if the rumors of Yuma overhaul are true.
We've never had anyone even close to Cirez D (regarding poster placement) play the Yuma. His visuals alone pretty much take him out of Yuma contention.
It throws off too much on this day. And the Yuma closing early has happened exactly once, for Beyonce last year. Putting him back in there lets the rest of this day breathe and flow properly. If the upgrades come to pass, it makes sense to me, and I'll bet someone a craft beer he does end up in the Yuma.
Cirez doesn't have to play with the lasers y'all. I've seen him multiple times, including at festivals, without them.
