Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide
Sad Wale is out, I really like the new album. Oh well, can't have them all with so many great confirmations in the last few weeks. But to add to that I'm feeling very positive about Grimes with that new album out Feb 21st. Give me one Grimes Outdoor Sunset, please.
Don't get me wrong, I love The Killers, and their show is one of the best I've been to this year. But nothing about them screams "Coachella Headliner." I'd love to see them prove me wrong though.
Forgot who was asking about the Richie Hawtin CLOSE show earlier but when I saw it at Coachella 2017 it was arguably worse set of the weekend. It was just painfully boring and the visuals are just close up outlines of his mixer and its knobs. It honestly came across as a glorified Model1 mixer advertisement. Wish I went to Father John Misty instead. Maybe I'm just a hater tho lol
That was me. Looking for some sort of escape from reality and seemed like a potential option. I’ve seen Him as Plastikman but that’s it.
Even if you don't think of them as such anymore, they're an absolute success story as the only ones so far to go from last-liners to headliners.
Here's a fun game; make the best lineup you can out of only last-liners.
Amy Winehouse - the Killers - Cage the Elephant Portugal. The Man - David Guetta - Beach House - Miguel the Avett Brothers - Grizzly Bear -Girl Talk - Courtney Barnett - Little Dragon Thundercat - the Neighbourhood - Wale - Frank Turner - Crosses - Klangstof - Prez. Hall Jazz Band - AC Slater

I'll stop there, but jesus.
No Saul Williams? What a garbage lineup.
I KNEW that I missed a few, darnit. Throw my man Gord Downie on there too, rip. Also Kendrick was 2nd to last line

fwiw gorblata has bad taste. Said Frank was bad and that show was amazing.
Ok, someone drop some knowledge on me. Does the Jan date at the Forum knock The Lumineers out? Only west coast date on their tour but it's still within 3 months.

The Alter Ego show? It usually has taken bands off the table since that event has been put on the last few years. Rex Orange County is the only act at this point anyone sees being at both. I mean Weezer had done both, so its possible. And if this was following radius clause rules outright, its a show thats already announced, in LA and with Live Nation.
How low of a billing would The Lumineers accept? I can't find an instance among their many 2019 NA festival dates where they're billed at #3 on their day or below. They're most certainly not one of our headliners and I don't see much of an argument for GV to place them in the "showcase sub" spot on Main. I don't see why they couldn't be a #3 but I also don't see much evidence that they'd be willing to accept a #3 spot after headlining several fests...

They're doing an arena tour right now that seems to be selling well. They were top 2 of their day at every fest they played this year. Can't see them accepting lower than a sub spot. Also don't see GV booking them in that spot. I doubt they play.

They have a big gap in their tour for April but I guess a lot of artists do that "just in case." But yeah, I mean we had fking SZA and Haim as subs a few years back so I don't think they'd be lower than a sub. But who knows, if it's a stacked lineup, and they're willing to accept a #3, then sure.

This was brought up before many pages ago but Mumford was in this exact same position for 2019: Announced their Delta tour with no west coast dates and a break during most of April. The Lumineers just seem to be checking all of the Mumford boxes so I'm just gonna assume they're also gonna check the box of not performing.

Yup, like Mumford, I think Lumineers are much more likely for Bottlerock than this.
