I'm going to blow a stack if it gets moved, like we're just a month away! And IF it did get moved, would that affect the yearly June advance sale for the next year?
Got my W2 tickets! No sign of the coffee table book - anyone know when those might ship?
I was wondering the same thing . I ordered the book as well and have gotten my tickets . I think all other add ons have been shipping right ?
Water bottles have shipped but yeah, the book is later.
Curious to see if they would have had a premiere for the youtube movie or not. and if they dont want to have the press all over them at that type of event and it would be constant deflection around the virus.
And whats the tone Paul T is going to have if he gives a state of Coachella interview right around the fest?
Just heard from a second source that Coachella is definitely not happening in April. This person didn’t know anything about a potential postponement to October, just that it’s not happening in April.
Don't have anything new to add but friend's roommate who works for GV also told her they're trying for October but nothing confirmed yet... who fucking knows... but doesn't seem like we will be on the fields in April

Theyll buy themselves all the time that they can for an October move, which is a double edged sword. Everyone will think the festival is still on with them going with the flow and then come the end of March and they drop it on everyone.

I would expect a more “official” leak to come out soon enough if they aren’t even considering a true move forward into April. They need to give vendors time to react too. Can’t be having a bunch of vendors putting in huge orders thinking everything is good to go and then pull the plug on them one week out. Especially with the supply chain issues we are seeing right now.
I would still try and likely go if this gets moved to October, but if we get stuck paying close to 20k for housing between two weekends because we can’t get our money back for the April rental and then have to pay another insane housing rental price in October then I expect a ton of people in my group to just cancel their tickets. While 50% of my group knocks down 6 figures and can take it, the other 50% don’t and the cost associated with this weekend would likely end up being close to $2,500 after everything is said and done, and that’s ridiculous for a GA festival ticket. Holding out hope, but it obviously looks grim.
Im sure theyre making everyone sign an NDA for the time being so that there arent any true leaks of whats to come if this goes south. Cant be any preemptive actions that set off the alarms and cause a flood of attention when theyre not ready. Like if food vendors tell their staff that they arent going to be working in a few weeks and such, it would be very difficult to keep quiet.
I already booked spots for October and all have free cancellations, rates were really good too. I dont think that many people are going to bite on that yet because they would rather know the dates before even booking a room at all. But hey, $70 Motel 6's are the stuff of dreams during festival season.
Lets started the Fallchella headliner rumors, cause we all know Frank aint gonna play now, lol.
My thing is though is if Goldenvoice is deciding this and understand that the fallout of an outright cancellation is too great for everything else that follows. Because if they move to the fall and the festival goes smoothly, then they made the smartest tactical decision possible. Probably dont make as much money but they did not have to stop it and walk away empty handed. They probably dont want to force the health departments hand and are just getting ahead of whats to come. Who would want to have their event cancelled by outside forces when/if youre big enough to actually do something this extreme as to move your event to later in the year ya know.
The thing is, Riverside County isn't forcing Coachella to reschedule right? And SXSW was going to run until Austin shut it down. I think there's still a chance it runs in April. I def think they will try to milk it as much as possible to see if April is doable, but they're prepping an October plan just in case. The date for them to start building on the grounds is the first week in April right? Could def see them milking it until right before then.
I don't have to travel for Coachella so it's not an issue for me, personally, I just don't want to wait and October vibes seem weird. Although the very first Coachella was in October right? Also acts potentially not being able to do an October date. Just messy. Really hope April works out.

See above, just edited in a response to what you said. But yeah, theyre not being forced to cancel but it would seem that they do have an advantage right now to not even let it come to that.

No one is signing an NDA, it’s a part of the job just like everything else leading up to Coachella so that idea is just ridiculous. You’re pulling shit out of your ass. Also, there’s a certain priority of notification of postponement and no way are vendors finding out this shit before labels and agencies. Food vendors aren’t that high on the totem pole. And why the fuck wouldn’t Frank play? If anything there’s a decent chance we’d keep all 3 headliners.
I dont think they want Festive Owl with the scoop on whatevers going to come of this whether it be good or bad. If theres a planned leak then it would be for a good outcome, not a bad one. Theyre not going to sit on the sidelines like Ultra did this week for a few days before they made things official.

Someone on Facebook posted they emailed coachella that they’re coming from Australia and would like a refund and they’re processing it. I know you can photoshop an email but I’m gonna venture on the side of real. Which isn’t a good sign.

My problem is I’m personally not taking responsibility for trying to book hotel rooms/large estate for multiple weekends as it relates to 18 people, when I don’t even know which individuals can and can not make the new hypothetical dates work. If I was a small group then I’d definitely be exploring October weekends right now.
