Anyone coming from metro-atl or anywhere near metro? We will be coming from Lilburn and Statesboro!! We're all first-time roo'ers as well as first-time festival-ers
Any tips on the drive there? What do you find to be the easiest/fastest route? And when do you leave/arrive?

I'll be coming from Toombs County. It's easy to get there. From the Boro, just head to ATL, stay on I-75 to Chattanooga, get on I-24, stop at Manchester Walmart and wait for the gates to open Wednesday night. But '06 was my 1st year and I didn't get there till Friday afternoon. And last year Thursday early afternoon. Last year, I tried to get off the Interstate at Walmart, but the police were only letting locals off there. They told me to keep going to another exit, can't remember which, and ask somebody how to get back to Wmart. Conveniently, there was a liquor store there, which was the only other place I needed to stop. I stocked up, got directions to Walmart without getting back on the interstate, went to wmart, got what I needed and got back on the interstate, made the very short drive to the Roo entrance and got in the gate very quickly compared to the year before. I had driven past miles of stopped cars on the shoulder before getting to the Wm exit to begin with and couldn't believe how easily I avoided all that waiting by taking what seemed like such a pain in the ass detour to begin with. ;D

Oh, and welcome to Inforoo and have some karma.
what he said.... and it takes about 3 hours. i left around 4am got into the grounds by 9 waited about an hour and a half to get in.
Takes us under three hours to get to the Manchester Wal-Mart from Cumming on Wednesday night after work. We party at Wally World before VIP check in on Thursday morning.
You will be excited to get there but you are better off taking your time and obeying all traffic laws and speed limits. It is a short trip from anywhere in the Atlanta area and you do not want to have any visits with law enforcement spoil your fun.
After Roo we sleep in on Monday morning, take our time eating breakfast and packing up then cruise on down the interstate and back into town sometime in the afternoon before the roads turn into parking lots as they tend to do most weekday evenings.

Coming from Dacula! We made the drive last year, took 3 hours. Then another 3 1/2 hours in line, the last 1/2 mile & getting on the farm took forever! Like torturous! Drive safe!
