What’s the possibility that Phish goes long Friday ?
Based on how Bonnaroo has treated LN set lengths the past few years I don't think it's likely they go super long. 1:15am at the latest, but I'd put my money on Phish ending right at 1am.
I'd be happy to be wrong though.
I've been wondering this too, but just assumed they would finish on time.
Does anyone know/recall if they were slotted for 3 hours in 2009? They went just under that. I did find that it was also billed as a late night set beginning at 11pm

Amazingly, they were scheduled for 3 and played the full 3. I assume that means we don't get more than 2 hours and 15 minutes or so. Shame. But I'm still stoked for Friday night.
That Friday I did grace potter/yeah yeah yeahs/al green/beastie boys/first hour of phish/public enemy and then I just called it a night cause I was so beat and was camped in the furthest site from centeroo. Also I had really bad sunburn on the top of my feet cause I wore flip flops and forgot to put sunscreen on the top on me feet like an idiot. Funny I dipped out that Friday phish show and caught all of Sunday just like this year with me having to leave for deafheaven. If I get up in that crowd though that’s going to be much tougher for me though as I’m a much bigger phish fan now than I was then
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
how hard will it be to get into the pit for either night of Phish?
in 2012 it was pretty easy. Bon Iver was before and i watched them from the back of the what field then pretty much walked into the pit afterwards. 2012 was also a crowded year, but phish only played sunday in 2012 so i'm sure many were leaving the farm around that time.
based on that experience i would think it wouldn't be too hard to get into either Phish pit, so long as you lineup during the act before. but there are so many variables to consider when considering difficulty of getting into the pit: how many phish fans are on the farm, other acts preceding or during phish, etc. so i could definitely be wrong, i've been wrong about a lot of things with regards to phish and bonnaroo this year.
friday my plan is to hang out on the far side of the What field during Gambino and scope out the pit line. if it doesn't look too bad i might give it a shot after gambino's set. similarly on sunday i'll walk straight over after g jones to the far side of what. if i get in the pit that's awesome, but i'm not going to try super hard to do so. i think even if i don't get into the pit there should be some nice spots over on the far side behind the pit barricades.

for illustration, i'll be trying for the red area (or behind) if i don't get pit.

I plan to do pretty much the exact same thing. Good luck!
I would think that getting pit for sunday would be easier than friday just with people leaving early.
But I also think Friday shouldn't be too hard to get into either with the solange and beach house overlap at the beginning. And people probably leaving early for other LN stuff as well means getting into the pit after the first hour or so should be no problem. In 2009 there were about 8 or so of us watching from about where the sound booth was, and two of my friends went to get a beer/bathroom. They sent a text back saying they just waltzed into the pit no waiting on the Bee side.
I'm probably going to try to catch the first hour or so of Solange from the back of the which, and then head over to try to get pit on Friday. It seems it's easier to get into the pit from the left side anyway, but with the return of Pod 1 and that entrance over there, maybe not so much this year.
This is all very helpful and I am likely going to copy. The whole concept of a separated pit at a festival is very confusing to a n00b like me
I think this pic does a good job of showing what the pit is like. basically a big semi circle in front of the stage. It gets cleared out between shows (so people can't just camp in the pit all day). You can enter either side way up by the front (you can see the opening on the right side up by the turquoise). lines will form in for more popular sets. for shows earlier in the day, don't be afraid of walking up and trying to go in the pit - as can be seen above sometimes there is more room in the pit than in the area right behind the fence that separates it from the crowd. by mid afternoon, most of it is in shade from the main stage too, so bonus!

wild thought: in that interview in The Tennessean Trey was talking about his admiration for Childish Gambino, and how excited he was that Phish was playing after his set on Friday. I wonder if they'd be able to talk Glover into a sit-in on Friday.
i think "Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucka)" would be an acceptable cover for this collaboration. somebody tell Trey.

i love it, feels a bit more realistic than mine. love the WTU sandwich with twist. and i forgot strange design 100% has to happen.
kind of feels like what we all agree on is Carini is a must. but if it comes right after ASZ i'll lose my mind. too dangerous to put those songs adjacent to each other.

last night's tour debut. these songs aren't necessarily off the table for Friday, but they are significantly less likely. could still get any of these Sunday though.
haven't listened to the show but i like the second set on paper.
