One part of me thinks this hurts Roo a bit, but I also have a lot less interest going to see a Lonely Island show than in seeing the Lonely Island play Bonnaroo

I feel like those NY dates have a better chance of having cool guests than Roo tho.
I think they'll still go pretty all out for Roo. NYC will have guests because its NYC, but I think Roo's still the highest profile of the shows, and the first one, so I wouldn't be surprised if they at least got Bolton, T-Pain, and Parnell to come out.

I'm still holding firm that the best thing is to just go in with the attitude that I'm definitely going to have a good time. I have little doubt they'll live up to that, and then the guests - whoever they may be - will just be great surprises on top of that.

This is the right attitude. And Bonnaroo seems like a much more fun place to see them than Kings Theatre, by like a mile, regardless of potential guests

How could this Tour announcement hurt Roo? They were announced for Roo a month and a half ago, Roos the first date, the only fest date... Plus I just dont think theres a ton of people who have been considering roo since the lineup drop who will now not go because they can see Lonely Island elsewhere. Maybe Im underestimating their fans.

I don't think it necessarily "hurts" Bonnaroo but it definitely makes it less of a "Holy shit" unique booking and people who may have planned to see him at the festival can now go to one of the other shows.
It's one of those things that just makes it less special. Outkast reuniting after years to play Coachella? Amazing and epic booking. Outkast reuniting and booking 40 festivals and other tour dates? Makes Coachella still cool but less epic.
Not saying these are exactly the same (Outkast are legends, Lonely Island are dumb fun comedy and only doing a handful of shows) but I get that "Oh....we're not special" feeling.

The only thing that I think sucks ‘bout this announcement is that ‘Roo is the first date of the tour. Sure, they’ll have done rehearsals, but shows usually get better after several performances.
I’m hopeful to see some cool guests, but not expectin’ anythin’ crazy.

At first I was thinking that I 100% agreed. I'm super excited for their Bonnaroo set, but wouldn't throw in the towel just because I can see them elsewhere after Roo. But I guess I can see it hurting Bonnaroo in terms of pulling in new fest-goers who might've been sold on the unique booking, but will now grab tickets for another tour date and maybe hit a different festival this summer instead? Even so, I don't feel like that would be a drastic number of people.
But, Bonnaroo IS still the only festival they're booked to play, so I feel like that helps. Hard to say.

My guess is we are looking at about 8 people who hadnt pulled the trigger on a Roo ticket yet but were actually going to mainly because of Lonely Island who now wont because of the tour.
Making it a tour makes it more likely they have some sort of actual production and not showing up on stage with just a dick in a box or something.
don't underestimate the difficulty of putting together a dick in a box for a stage production. not an easy thing to put together since it involves multiple steps:
1. cut a hole in a box 2. put your junk in that box 3. make her open the box
I'm having trouble finding it. Maybe they meant midnight tonight/Friday? Doesn't their new shit come out on Fridays usually?
I wonder if it's midnight tonight but California time. I know that some shows for Hulu/Netflix that come out a day later post up after West Coast goes to midnight, so 3 a.m. for me.
