Every year, I help my future self to schedule everything out by separating everyone into categories. Once the schedule comes out, I use this list to help me plan. So, now that we've had a moment to get use to the lineup, what's your lists? You could do it by day, but I like to tackle it as one big festival poster personally.
1.) Must See = Something you're super excited about that beats out most of the other acts. Only choose a small group of these because you don't want Must See conflicts. 2.) Want To See - A band/artist you're into and plan to go to but will still miss if scheduled against a Must See. 3.) Might See - You like this act, and you might check them out if it works out, but not a worry if it doesn't work out. 4.) No Way - Your friends couldn't even drag you to this show. 5.) I leave artists off the list that I don't have much of a opinion of. They aren't bad, but might not be my taste or I've seen them way too many times for me to go see them again.

~ WANT TO SEE! ~ Grand Ole Opry Saba Space Jesus B2B Eprom B2B Shlump (Eprom is a ^) All Them Witches * The Comet Is Coming ^ Jack Harlow ^ Brockhampton * Anoushka Shankar ^ (Had no idea Ravi Shankar had a daughter doing music. Super cool get) Nahko & The Medicine For The People * Liquid Stranger Rival Sons * Ibeyi Jade Cicada Medasin ^ Ducky ^ The Lonely Island ZHU * Gucci Mane Quinn XCII Clairo ^ Hippo Campus Chelsea Cutler ^ Whipped Cream ^ Rubblebucket * Little Simz ^ The Lumineers (Sorry Inforoo, I've never seen them, so I actually want to check them out) Bombino
~ Might See ~ 12th Planet Sunsquabi * Caroline Rose ^ Donna Missal * Childish Gambino * Griz * RL Grime * Beach House (I know lots of ppl love them, but I have a hard time getting into their studio stuff. If it works out, maybe their live show will make me more of a fan.) I hated Invasion of Privacy) Lil Dicky * (I like the guy actually, but if you see his show once, it's hard to watch again. It's kinda like watching your favorite comedian so the same show twice. It's a one time kind of show IMO) Hobo Johnson ^ (My god, the GF and I couldn't believe how bad the studio stuff was. Am I missing something?)

I've seen a lot of this lineup, but I still find it pretty appealing. I'm going to see some great new shit, and I'll do more research for schedule gaps down the line and when bored at home. Still, I'm going to end up having to miss out on a bunch of shit that I probably would have wanted to see based on must/want/might lists.
Must See - Beach House, Kacey Musrgraves, Courtney Barnett, Solange, Lonely Island, The National, John Prine, Jim James, Phish (most of the 3 sets), Jade Cicada, Cardi B, and Mac Demarco.

Want To See - Hippo Campus*, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Post Malone, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Parquet Courts, Gramatik, JRAD, Cardi B, Girl Talk, Brockhampton, Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile, The Wood Brothers, Trampled By Turtles, The Lumineers
Might See - Space Jesus, Hobo J, Cherry Glazerr, Lil Dicky, Gucci Mane, Nude Party, Griz, Solange, Walk The Moon
Won't See - The Record Company*, Juice WRLD
Not much stuff on there that I have strong opinions against. Record Company is down there because I went to their concert once when I wanted to see the opener and they were so bad I left halfway thru their performance

So what's the deal with Griz? I hear some of my friends talk about him sometimes but they aren't necessarily friends whose opinions I respect. The Skrillex jam was great though, so I'll go.
I also hear about grizmatic more than I'd like to. Is it any count?

esteban has some good posts about him in "the other" thread. i listened to the tracks esteban suggested and enjoyed them. in short he's an electronic producer but extremely funky. so big funky dance party.

This about sums it up. It approaches cheese but isn't full-on cheese. Jammy electro-funk that I usually enjoy for about 45 minutes or so before I'm ready to move on. Idk if I'll be at his set (depends on what else is going on at the time), but I'll almost certainly be at the Superjam.

Want To See Grand Ole Opry All Them Witches Solange Zhu Iglooghost Girl Talk Little Simz Gojira Tokimonsta

He’s from Detroit and is rooted in funk and Motown which kind of sets him apart from a lot of DJ’s - that and he’s a saxophone virtuoso. I’ve seen him 9 or 10 times over the years in various capacities (DJ, Solo, Live, Buku Superjam afterparty with Shady Horns, Grizmatik), etc. Recommendation is that you listen to Say it Loud. It spans a lot of genres and with the exception of one or two songs, it’s not typical edm at all. Like I told Postjack in the other thread, For the Love featuring Talib Kweli is probably my all time favorite GRiZ song, and that’s on Say it Loud. Earlier albums are all good but more typical for EDM. Some of the last couple of release (Good Will Prevail, Good Will Continue and Chasing the Golden) are a bit abstract. Nevertheless you can bet on a giant dance party.
As for Grizmatik, it’s a side project of GRiZ and Gramatik. It’s pretty fun and break heavy. Gramatik is one of the best producers in the world. His albums aren’t anything like his shows. He puts out a lot of low key soulful shit, but the live performances tend to be uptempo. I’ve seen Gramatik a few times, most recently as the unofficial official after party to Dead and Company last year. That was a hell of a night of good shit. I’ve only seen Grizmatik once and that was a one off they did for Buku 2017. It was great, but that’s where I’d say they borderline on cheese. It’s good Cheese not some Muenster or Limberger.

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Tried to keep the terms relative to the quality of the day. If any of the Friday "want to sees" were on another day, they would probably qualify as a must see.
My guess is that I will end up seeing 6 Thursday, 7 Friday (may only get 2 or 3 of those must sees after conflicts), 7 Saturday, and 5 Sunday sets that I am excited enough to leave camp for. 25 full sets would be above standard over the last few years for me.
Must See Phish(how ever many sets I can) Beach House * The Lonely Island Uknown Mortal Orchestra Childish Gambino * Mac Demarco Parquet Courts *
Want To See BROCKHAMPTOM GRiZ Superjam Catfish & The Bottlemen * Nahko * Rival Sons * Crooked Colours (really really want to see them, but they are small and I have a strong feeling they’ll conflict) Jim James (Kinda * cause I’ll be seeing his solo show at Shaky right before and have seen MMJ) Hobo Johnson (you guys need to give him a break, it’s just some kid having fun and making spoken word, it’s like if The Front Bottoms and Chance The Rapper had a baby) Bishop Briggs * Odesza * (I feel they are gonna be unopposed late night like Bassnectar)
Might See GRiZ * RL Grime * Gojira * K. Flay Liquid Stranger & Jade Cicada (Both on my friends must see) JRAD Post Malone (my aunt LOVES him for whatever reason, I am curious to see him but I’m probably only gonna stay for the first couple songs and get a good late night spot for The Lonely Island, hopefully in the pit for Which) Lil Dicky * (he was eh when I saw him at Okee, but it’s been a couple years, so I want to see him again, but more of an entertainer than a good live rapper) Walk The Moon (love their first album, Shut Up and Dance With Me wants to make me rip my ears out sorry) Space Jesus * (includes both sets) G Jones * The National * (I like them but they put both of my friends I’m going with to sleep lol) Hozier * (my girlfriend hasn’t seen him and probably wants too) The Avett Brothers * (probably not but if there really isn’t anything going on they did put on a good show last time) The Lemon Twigs * The Nude Party & Peach Pit (Kinda * Plan to see them at Shaky this year so depending on both of these schedules I’ll see what will conflict or not. Want to see both at least at one of the two) Magic City Hippies All Them Whiches (feel a conflict coming sadly) Gramatik * Hippo Campus * Rolling Coastal Blackout Fever EPROM (my friend will probably be there) Princess
Wont See Cardi B (my group all agreed this is the worst person on the lineup) Gucci Mane ( I’m honestly really happy for Roo finally booking him, y’all have fun, BRRrrrr!) AJR (but was hoping Roo would book them just because they are so generic) Illenium NGHTMRE Juice WRLD (my girl love Lucid Dreams tho, have no clue why, she hates music like this) Clairo(corporate plant)

Artists I want to get into but indifferent about, if anyone wants to recommend anything by them or why I should try to see them, convince me.
Sunsquabi Saba Solange (I don’t like Beyoncé, but I like her more) Girl Talk Courtney Barnett (heard great things) Kacey Musgraves ZHU Lil Simz (sounds really good and love her song with Gorillaz) Two Feet (sounds generic, but know a bunch of people love em) John Prine (I know he’s a legend but he’s old, still sound good?) AC Slater (I liked one song by him awhile ago, too hard and heavy tho) Trampled By Turtles (they play on one of the Putomayo CDs at work and I think it’s ruined for me, talented tho, same with The Wood Brothers, I think they are on one of the CDs too) The Soul Rebels (just a lot of brass) Quinn XCII (I know someone who is obsessed with him, sounds generic) The Record Company The Comet is Coming (like I said in another thread I want to like them because you guys are hyping them up so much just not clicking) Kikagaku Moyo Iglooghost Deafheaven (I used to like emo music) Rubblebucket

All I know of Solange was her last album , which I loved. Off that album I’d check out - “ borderline, where do we go , fubu , junie, and cranes in the sky”.
Courtney Barnett - wasn’t a huge fan of her newest album but some of my fav tracks of hers are - “ out of the woodwork , are you looking after yourself, and small poppies”

Courtney Barnett is awesome and her first album was great. She put on an great show when she played last time at roo and was one of the highlights of my week.
