BIOGRAPHY
"Nahko, an Oregon-native born a mix of Puerto Rican, Native American, and Filipino bloodlines considers himself a citizen in service to the planet. Disillusioned by the world around him and inspired by vagabond, Americana musicians and storytellers like Conor Oberst and Bob Dylan, Nahko left home as a teenager in search of adventure and self discovery. Armed with stories, a guitar, and a fierce set of ideals, he set out to bridge the cultural gaps dividing his own psyche. He began producing a public, musical journal of his journey toward personal, spiritual, and social healing, and thus Medicine for the People was born. My favorite album of his is Dark As Night. A lot of the songs on every album can be a little long but they are constantly shifting to stay interesting.
Physical Reaction/Live Show
To be fair, I didn't really like Nahko before I saw them live. I saw them at Okeechobee 2016 and was completely transformed. The show that they put on is one of the most entertaining I have ever seen. I totally get how some people might find his voice to be a bit grating and annoying, but honestly everyone at the show was moving and grooving and having an incredible time. His fans are called the "tribe" and tend to be very easy-going, spiritual people who will flow with the music. Should bea perfect mid day tent/which show with lots of people spread out dancing and smoking the good stuff.

Outside of music, Nahko is very involved in charitable works, listing several different funds on his site in an effort to "preserved the planet, the people, and the spirit". Those charities can be found here
Personal Notes
Nahko is kind of polarizing with his voice and sometimes preachy lyrics but he has helped many people get through tough times. One of my best friends was going through a rough bout of depression, but when he discovered Nahko, songs like "Aloha Ke Akuna" really helped him through a tough time. I would definitely give him a chance if he is playing at a time you don't care about any one too much. Should surprise some people

This isn't really my bag musically, but he seems like a cool enough guy and that's great to hear he's involved politically and his music has helped your friends out at low points. I'm not 100% sure why, but I kinda get a Mumford and Sons vibe here.

Yeah totally wasn't in to it at all before I saw him so I get it. Hopefully it works out that you get to see them!
