General Info Members:Omara "Bombino" Moctar Biography: Omara was born in Niger, where he taught himself to play a discarded guitar left by his relatives. During a civil war in his country, guitars were outlawed and 2 of his band mates were executed. He fled in exile to Burkina Faso. While in exile, filmmaker Ron Wyman tracked him down after hearing him on cassette. They decided to record his music professionally, and created the album "Agadez" in the city of the same name. (this next part is copy/paste) The success of Agadez attracted many musical stars to Bombino including Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. In June 2012, Auerbach began producing Bombino's second international solo album titled Nomad. Nomad was released by Nonesuch Records on April 2, 2013 and debuted at number one on the iTunes World Chart and Billboard World Chart. Bombino began a concert tour of the United States in May 2013. The tour includes appearances at major music festivals, including Bonnaroo and The Newport Folk Festival. In 2013, Bombino was also invited to open for Robert Plant, Amadou & Mariam and Gogol Bordello

Physical Reaction/Live Show I saw him at Newport Folk Festival, and he blew me away. Absolutely beautiful and groovy makes you wanna smoke a crap ton of hash.
Saw him in a tent at ACL in 2015 or 2016 and it was a great show. Think Tinariwen, Goat, Khruangbin-type vibes. Definitely a hash propelled experience.
